Free Songs from ROOTDOWN

Today we have some free music from ROOTDOWN, which is a side project of Paul Wright (whom Matt posted about a couple days ago). They have three of the four songs from their (cleverly titled) ROOTDOWN EP on their website for absolutely free! The songs are called “Real Love”, “Roots”, and “Don’t Walk Away”. All you have to do is sign up for the email list. But let me warn you, these are the kind of songs that get stuck in your head for days.

Free Song from Living Anthem & Jordan Biel

Living Anthem

I’m not sure why iTicket’s has been giving away music from independant or relatively-unknown artists lately, but they’ve followed the trend again this week – which might be a little disappointing, if it wasn’t such good independant or relatively-unknown artists like Living Anthem.  I had a chance to hear two of their new songs a couple of weeks ago, and I was impressed with their anthematic song “March Ahead” and the slower-to-grow-on-me-but-now-I-like-it “40 Years”.

Now, iTicket’s is giving away “Mystery”, a worship song from Living Anthem, which is definitely a decent track, and “Jesus, You Are My Lord” by Jordan Biel.  Jordan’s song “Beautiful” was featured on iTickets two weeks ago, and he’s got even more free music available on his website.  You can get the details on that here.  Enjoy!

-iTicket’s Free Music Page-

Also, I was just on Living Anthem’s MySpace, and it looks like they’ve got “Mystery” up as a free download there too.  So, if you’d like to check out Living Anthem, but don’t have an account with iTicket’s for whatever reason, you just lucked out:  :)

-Living Anthem on MySpace-

As a last note, I’m going to wish all of you a happy 4th of July!  I’m going to be out of town (in fact, I’ll probably be gone by the time you read this), so I’ll bid you adiu, and leave you in Ansley’s and James’s capable hands.  I really hope you’re weekend is going to be a good as mine.  ;)

Summer Festival Sampler 2009

Toothandnail - BEC recordings - Solid StateYes, you heard me right, yet another summer sampler from Tooth & Nail/BECrecordings/Solid State. This one might not be as big and make your head explode, but it still contains some good music. Also, many of these songs were already on the previous Sampler Matt posted just two days ago, but, this one does have a few songs that were not. Of the twelve songs, 7 of them are on the Fuel Sampler. Track listing:

  • Emery – Cutthroat Collapse
  • Thousand Foot Krutch – Bring Me To Life
  • Kutless – The Rescue
  • FM Static – Boy Moves to a New Town with Optimistic Outlook
  • The Glorious Unseen – Hear Our Prayers
  • Falling Up – Streams of Woe at Acheron
  • KJ-52 – Wake Up
  • Hawk Nelson – Lets Dance Dojo Dominating Remix by Jason Dunn
  • Since October – Guilty
  • August Burns Red – Thirty and Seven
  • Seventh Day Slumber – Take Everything
  • Children 18:3 – All My Balloons

Anyway, even if you did get the Fuel Sampler, the remaining five songs on the Summer Festival Sampler ‘09 make it all the worth while to download. Besides, what do you have to lose?

-Summer Festival Sampler 2009-

It also says that the ‘The Rescue’ is done by an artist called by the same name. However, when I downloaded it, it came out as Kutless. I haven’t heard of an artist by the name by ‘The Rescue’, so I believe it was just an error.

Free Song from Paul Wright

Paul Wright

Free music today from Paul Wright.  He’s got the song “From Sunrise to Sunset”, from the album Sunrise to Sunset, up for free download on his Purevolume profile.  Despite being from an older song (Sunrise to Sunset was released in 2005), it’s still a great song.  If you enjoy good, acoustic guitar-backed rap, along the lines of Shawn McDonald or, to a lesser extent, Mat Kearney, you definitely don’t want to miss Paul Wright.  Enjoy!

Fuel Returns (And Matt’s Head Explodes)

Tooth & Nail Fuel SamplerIt’s true – Tooth & Nail and Solid State Records have let loose yet another unbelievably epic sampler to wreck musically chaos on the eardrums of fans everywhere.  In fact, the only thing that could come close to touching this is the last Fuel sampler.  The tracklist:

  • Surrogate – “Exercise Machines”
  • Living Sacrifice – “Overkill Exposure (Rough Mix)”
  • Haste the Day – “68″
  • As Cities Burn – “84′ Sheepdog”
  • Children 18:3 – “All My Balloons”
  • FM Static – “Boy Moves To A New Town With Optimistic Outlook”
  • Thousand Foot Krutch – “Bring Me To Life”
  • Emery – “Cutthroat Collapse”
  • Ivoryline – “Days End”
  • mewithoutYou – “Every Thought A Thought of You”
  • The Crucified – “The Pit”
  • MxPx – “Punk Rock Girl”
  • The Ascendicate – “Scottish”
  • Oh, Sleeper – “Son of the Morning”
  • August Burns Red – “Thirty and Seven”
  • Becoming The Archetype – “Dichotomy”
  • Copeland – “The Grey Man”
  • Hawk Nelson – “Let’s Dance (Dojo Dominating Remix)”
  • Showbread – “Nothing Matters Anymore”
  • MyChildren MyBride – “On The Wings of Integrity”
  • Neon Horse – “Strange Town”
  • Corey Crowder – “Look How Far We’ve Come”
  • Trenches – “Sacrament”
  • The Showdown – “[Achilles] The Backbreaker”
  • And Then There Were None – “Reinventing Robert Cohn”
  • Family Force 5 – “Fever”
  • Jonezetta – “Sick In The Teeth”
  • Since October – “Guilty”
  • The Chariot – “Daggers”
  • Underoath – “Desperate Times, Desperate Measures”
  • Secret & Whisper – “Anchors (Acoustic)”

If that doesn’t get you pumped up for this, I don’t know what will.  Well, besides the fact that the Showbread and Oh, Sleeper songs are brand new, never-before-heard.  They aren’t even on MySpace yet.  Extremely epic, and a must-have.

Of course, that’s not to say that it’s perfect.  The cover art is a little creepy, and the website mentions a song from The Almost, which wasn’t in my .zip file.  I won’t be surprised if there’s an update with the song in it soon enough.  Even so, those are minor details.  Get this, right, now.  Seriously.  Do it.  Now:

-Tooth & Nail/Solid States’s Fuel Sampler-

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’m totally digging the Children 18:3, FM Static, and Ivoryline right now, great stuff, and I’m not nearly through the sampler yet.  What are your favorite songs?

You + The Wrecking = Twilight Movie Appearence?

Okay, let me get this straight.  I’m not a Twilight fan.  I haven’t read the books or seen the movie.  But I am a fan of The Wrecking, and when I heard that their song “Our Feet Don’t Touch the Ground” was being considered for the soundtrack of the next Twilight movie, New Moon, I knew I had to help get the word out.  So…

  • Go to http://www.theTwilightSong.com and listen to “Our Feet Don’t Touch the Ground.”
  • Click to vote for The Wrecking.
  • Tell all your friends to do the same.

That’s not too hard, is it?  And just think of the good you’d be doing!  You’d be supporting The Wrecking, listen to an amazing song from them, and you’d be improving the new Twilight movie.  What could be better?

Emergency Broadcast: The Downloads Are Near

ReverbNation…And boy, are there a lot of them.  1000 to be exact.  It’s all part of Microsoft’s latest promotion idea:  Giving away music.  The software giant has forged a partnership with ReverbNation, a popular music site, to give away more free songs then you can shake a Zune at, for free.

Due to such a huge number of downloads, I might have missed a few Christian artists – if I did, I’m sorry.  That said, there seems to plenty of Christian artists in the list including Underoath’s song “Emergency Broadcast:  The End Is Near”, Bobby Bishop’s “All In”, Hillsong United’s “Desert Song”, and independent artists like Adelina Halmajan, Andy Zipf, Devin Williams, D-Cee, HeeSun Lee, LASTAWAKE, Mynista, Mr. Paul, Matt Shanor, Mashach, Mosquito Farm, No Longer Micah, One4All, Pat Hyland, Peter Woolston, P-Duble, Sheri Carr, The Lacks, and likely more.

It looks like there’s definitely plenty of music to investigate, so go check it out!  Enjoy it!  :)

Music Video Fame & Free Music

Vota

Who wants to be famous!  Who wants free music?  Who likes Vota?  You?  Great!  Today is your lucky day!  How?  Read on!

Vota (a band formerly know as Casting Pearls) and Gospel Music Channel have teemed up to give you (yes, YOU) a chance at fame & glory by directing and filming a music video for Vota’s song “I’ll Go”.  Upload your video to Tangle, send Gospel Music Channel the link, and your video just might end up being aired on GMC!

Personally, I’m a huge music video geek, and the very thought of a contest like this gets me excited.  Of course, if you’re the sort of person who’d rather not lip sync in front of your friends, much less thousands of viewers on TV, you can still download “I’ll Go” (which also happens to be a pretty good song) for free from Gospel Music Channel.

Either way, you can link up below.  Just as a bonus, if you do make a video, shoot me an email (or tweet, or comment, or smoke signal…) with a link to your video, and I’ll see about featuring it on TFCMB.  I’d love to see what you all come up with.  :)

Free EP from HarvestBloom

HarvestBloom

Free music today from a new band called HarvestBloom.  They’re a female-fronted Christian rock band from Maryland who just released a self-titled EP free, through their website, HarvestBloom.net.

The EP, HarvestBloom, is 6 songs long, is about half guitar driven rock and half slower worship songs.  The best track, hands down, is “Self Pity”.  It kicks off with some latin-sounding mandolin, then the vocals come, then the electric guitars, bass, and drums kick in.   It’s definitely the most intense song, and reminds me a lot of Petra’s old school rock songs like “Right Place”.  Towards the end of the song, the mandolin comes in again, and pulls the song together nicely.

Anyway, like I said, you can download the EP for free from the band’s website, where you can also stream the songs:
