This Beautiful Republic

New This Beautiful Republic and Jimmy Needham Song Downloads

19 08 2008

Well, I’m back.  I had an amazing week and learn sooo much.  Thank you everyone for praying for me!  I really appreciate it.  I think I have some of the coolest readers in the world.  I’ll have to remember to post the link to the conference if they ever to it again.  I’m sure someone would like to come.

Now for the music.  iTicket’s a got some sweet new music for this week, in the form of This Beautiful Republic and Jimmy Needham.  Both songs are quite fresh and well worth the download.  The mp3’s are “No Turning Back” by This Beautiful Republic and “A Breath or Two” by Jimmy Needham.  This Beautiful Republic (TBR for short) are always good, and the Jimmy Needham song is great too.

This is one week on iTicket’s you don’t want to miss.

A Letter from Matt

16 08 2008

Hey everyone,

This is Matt.  Right now, this looks like my only chance to be online this week, so I’m going to make it count.  First, I want to officially appologize to everyone who’s been wondering where I’ve been.  I really expected to have internet access here at the conference I’m attending, so I was pretty disappointed when I found out that I wouldn’t have it.  That is the reason that I still haven’t posted the Song Combat results, or posted at all, for that matter.  I hope you can give me grace this week till I get back home to my own connection.

Second, I would really appreciate any prayers this week.  I’m learning a lot, and meeting a lot of amazing people, but I’m feeling somewhat overwhelmed by all of it.  So if you could remember me, that would be great.

And third, I’ve got a load of great music that needs posting ASAP.  So, without further ado:

Song Combat!  The results are in, and Kiros managed a fairly big win.  But, since I’m feeling generous, I’m actually going to give you the links to Last Tuesday too, just because.  :)

Also with new free music out this week is David Crowder Band.  You can get their new song “…neverending…” for free on both the band’s website and iTickets.  So pick your site, and download away.  It’s a amazingly catchy song, and a great example of David Crowder and crew’s talent.  Oh, and both are only available for a limited time, so be sure you move fast.

Hopefully I can get a full, normal, post written sometime soon.  See you them!

2 Free Song Downloads from Tessa Rae Newman

9 08 2008

Tessa Rae NewmanOne style of music you rarely see free is country.  Compared to any other genre, it’s harder to find good country downloads then almost any other genre.  Because of that, it’s not something I’m able to feature often on The Free Christian Music Blog.  However, there are anomalies to every trend.

Today’s free downloads is one of those anomalies.  I’ve had this for months, and I had actually forgotten about till just recently, when I re-discovered the songs.  The artist is Tessa Rae Newman, the songs, “Momma Always Makes It Better” and “On the Wings of an Angel”, the CD, Spellbound.  Check the songs out below, and also check out Tessa’s website for more information.

Own A Piece of Music History!

8 08 2008

Thanks to RadioU-TVU, you may now own a piece of Christian music history.  The history in question is part of a fried Snickers bar that TobyMac tried, and didn’t like.  Kind of gross, really.  The full story is on the eBay auction.

More iTicket’s!

6 08 2008

One of free music’s staples, iTicket’s, has added new music this week from both Sanctus Real and House of Heroes.  You can now download Sanctus Real’s rockin’ “Turn On the Lights” and House of Heroes’ “Sooner or Later”.  I’ve had both songs for several months, and can recommend them highly.

Song Combat: Last Tuesday Vs. Kiros

5 08 2008

Tank[Song Combat]

Last Tuesday - “Have You Seen Me?”

vs.

Kiros - “Of Wolves and Angels”

That’s right, sports fans, it’s time for another Song Combat.  This time, I’m pitting Christian rock band Last Tuesday again another rock band, Kiros.  It’s going to be intense, so buckle your seatbelts get ready for the first Song Combat since TFCMB moved to Wordpress!

Last Tuesday isn’t a newcomer to the Christian rock scene.  On the contrary, they broke up a couple of years ago and left the world with several CDs.  Their sound is something like The Even Anthem meets The Wedding, yet nothing at all like those two bands.  Really, you should just check them out on MySpace.  (And grab the two free songs!)

Kiros is a new Canadian band who recently played Cornerstone festival.  Since they are new, I don’t have quite as much info on them as I would like, but, nevertheless, they are solid band to watch for.

Now, here’s how this works.  I will post a poll, you vote for your favorite, and the winner gets featured.  And the loser, I’m sorry to say, gets moved deep into my bookmarks folder, never to see light of day again.  That is not good.  So you do not want your song to lose.  It’s a simple as that.  So, what are you waiting for?

Sounds Like Summer: Olivia the Band

5 08 2008

Beach

Since summer is almost over (I’ve heard school has already started for some of you) I’ve decided to give one last memento of a fun summer break, in the form of a feature from Olivia the Band.

Since Olivia the Band is from Hawaii, where summer never ends, and, since the song seems to fit with the theme of sun, sand, and ice cream, here’s your daily dose of music, straight from the tropics, may I present, “Saturday”:
