The First This Beautiful Republic Contest: Logo Design
After many helpful suggestions, I’ve decided to take Matt’s idea and do a logo design contest for The Free Christian Music Blog. The winner will receive a copy of This Beautiful Republic’s new CD, Perceptions.
Quick disclaimer: I’ve never done a contest like this before, so this is going to be a learning experience. Hopefully everything will go smoothly, but in the event it doesn’t, well, I’ll figure it out then.
The official rules:
1. The contest is open to everyone, with the exception of myself and James, who will judge. (Unless you want to enter James, in which case I’ll judge myself.)
2. Entrants will have one (1) week to create an original logo for TFCMB, and email it to me at freechristianmusicblog@gmail.com. Please attach your design and include your name and email.
3. Entries will be judged by James and I, who will decide a winner and two runners up.
4. The winner will be announced in a post here, and then contacted via email for mailing information.
5. All entries will become the property of The Free Christian Music Blog, and maybe used as a logo, banner, profile image, Facebook “Pieces of Flair” Flair, badges, business cards, promotional material, t-shirts, pens, coffee mugs and Christmas cards. Keep in mind this list is not conclusive, and I may use it for something entirely different.
Design suggestions: I don’t really know. Have fun with it! The only thing is the design should be something I could put on the site, in the feed, and any social network profiles. I can’t wait to see what you come up with, so go ahead and get started.
-This contest starts now!-

So, is this just a small logo, or a full banner, or what? Can you give us size constraint guidelines as well (i.e. no bigger than 300×500, and no smaller than 50×50)?
Thanks, look forward to submitting.
Brian
When does this end?
Sorry did not read, but this is a good question: How many pixels wide and tall?
Hahaha! Yeah, my idea got picked! I thought that would be the last thing in the world to happen! Well, look for an entry from me! I have ok graphics skills for my age.
Okay, let me see. According to FeedBurner, a logo would need to be 200px by 200px, or smaller. However, if you make a logo bigger I think I can shrink it if needed. Also, if you could make a logo that could be used both as a banner, and as a icon, that would be great. If not, either/or would be a okay, but both would be best.

Brian: A logo is differant than a banner. Make the logo any size, and then you can re-size it to a banner.
You will want to put in to the rules that the submitted product will become the property of TFCMB, or at least the winning one will.
I’d love to win a free cd, but Alas, I’m not THAT computer savvy. *sighs wistfully*
Craig:
I understand and know that difference. I was asking for clarifications sake, since no size was specified in the post, and you never know what people are expecting until you ask.
Hey Matt,
Would it work if I draw it, scan it, and then send it to you, or not? Because I haven’t got a clue how to do my idea on the computer. And that’s the only way I can think of to make it work. If you don’t think so, I’ll just hold on and wait for another contest to come along.

Kiwifruit: That would be fine. I can’t wait to see what you come up with it.
B: Thanks, I had forgotten that. Added to post.

Yesssss! Okay, I’ll try and do it (and just hope that it doesn’t end up looking corny. And if it looks good, hope our scanner works!)

Is an Adobe Illustrator file okay to send?
Sean: No, I can’t open them (I can’t afford Adobe)
but PNG are fine. Actually, if PNG would be preferred, but either JPG or BMP would each be fine.

I tested it and I found out that Illustrator files can be opened. If you have a PC you can choose to open it with Adobe Reader. I think that comes with free with every PC. If you have a Mac you can choose to open it with Preview… But a PNG always works too, so whatever is easier for you.
Sean: Okay, well, I don’t use Adobe Reader. It’s too bloated for me. I prefer the freeware alternatives, that start in seconds, not minutes.
