Free Songs from Disciple, Matthew West, and Josh Wilson

Free music today from a couple of talented artists, Disciple, Matthew West, and Josh Wilson.  Now Disciple is one of the best Christian heavy rock groups in existance.  They are pretty much amazing.  You can snag a free copy of their balled-ish song “After the World”.  It was (to my knowledge) the band’s first slower hit, and got heavy rotation on many Christian radio stations who don’t normally play Disciple.  Honestly, I don’t like this song as well as Disciple’s louder stuff, but, it’s free, so I can’t really complain.  :)   Grab the song for free from TotalAxxess.  (Limited time deal, so move fast!)

Also with some new, free music, iTicket’s has got several new songs from Matthew West and Josh Wilson.  Sadly, I haven’t had a chance to give the songs a listen yet, so I can’t really review them – you’ll just have to go and get them yourself.

Free Music From Forever Changed

Today we have three free songs by the band Forever Changed.  They were a band off of Floodgate Records before they broke up in 2006.  The downloads are “Never Look Down” off of their final album Chapters, “Encounter” off of their first album The Need To Feel Alive, and “Consequences” which is a b-side.  You should definitely check out the other songs on their PureVolume, especially “Starting to Sink” and “The Need To Feel Alive.”

Myspace Downloads Update

As some of you have noticed, the downloads from myspace disappeared with the appearance of the new player. According to this blog by Tom, they will all be back soon, and some already are:

5) Buy and Download links. We are gradually populating all the buy and download links. If a band offers the track as a free download then you will be able to do that. If they don’t, then it’s only for streaming. The same goes for buying. The links are not all there yet, but they’re gradually being populated with the right choice.

So if couldn’t download anything off of myspace because of the change, you can now head back over there and do so.

Leeland is Going The Opposite Way

LeelandLeeland is going the opposite way.  Well, kind of.  The band is giving away their song “Opposite Way”, the title track to their new CD, for free on their website.

What Leeland is doing is actually really cool, they are asking people to share stories of how Christ has helped them to go in the opposite direction, leaving the easy way to do hard things for Christ.  It’s so encouraging to read the stories of how God’s worked in peoples lives.  It’s just awesome.  Amen and all praise to Christ!

Speedlinking: Brave Saint Saturn, Lincon Brewster, Addison Road

Speedlinking once again (Friday, because James found a sweet sampler he couldn’t wait to post about. :) ) Anyway, speedlinking is something I started last week, basically, to save myself time and to diversify somewhat.  You can see last week’s introduction here.  That said, let’s get started:

1.  Brave Saint Saturn has given Indie Vision Music permission to give their song “Starling” away as a free download.  Brave Saint Saturn is the electronic side project of several members of Five Iron Frenzy.

2.  I was emailed about this 100 Places to Find Free Christian Music Online list this week, and would have had to share it even if TFCMB wasn’t number 21 on the list.  It’s extremely complete, and worth perusing.

3.  Indie Vision Music has also got two brand new downloads from Gasoline Heart and Discover America.  Looks good!

4.  Indie Vision Music also has got a full CD download from Amohalko.  It’s a full CD called Spark, and looks sweet.  Three downloads in one post – yes, Indie Vision Music is amazing.

5.  This week’s video is Joy Electric – “What Electricity Made”.  See it here.

6.  iTicket’s has a free download this week of Lincoln Brewster‘s new song “Today Is the Day”.

7.  Total Axxess has a free download of Addison Road’s “Sticking With You”.  It looks like it’s only going to be available for a limited time, so grab a copy fast.

7.  And last but definitely not least, this week’s archived download is actually a sampler from HearItFirst.com.  Check the original post for details.

Free Song by The Devil Wears Prada

A while back, Matt put out a reward for anyone that could find a legal, free download of The Devil Wears Prada. If you don’t remember this, check the comments off of this post here and mourn the fact you only clicked the download link (or didn’t click it either) and decided not to comment. However, all is not lost, because if you look carefully, you will see that TDWP was only half of the offer.

Anyway, the song up for download is “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” It is found on a sampler put up by their former record label. The problem is that you have to download the whole sampler, and the some of the bands are not Christian bands, but you can delete their songs (or if any of you know that one of them actually is a Christian band, tell me in the comments).

Edit:  Burden of a Day is also a Christian band.  It’s not the song Matt was looking for a download of, but its nonetheless a legal, free download from a Christian band.  And from what I’ve seen, At The Throne of Judgment might be.  And then Before Their Eyes is a Christian band.  That’s all I have time to check for you, but if anyone wants they can look the bands up.  I sort of feel like an idiot now for saying there weren’t any other when there is at least three more (and I’ve only checked out half of the bands) Christian bands.

Bonus tidbit for ya’ll, The End is Not The End, the crically acclaimed, highly anticipated, brand new, CD project from House of Heroes is available online today.  Just thought I’d pass that on… :)

Free Song from My Epic

My Epic

My Epic is a fairly new Christian rock group who are signed to Facedown Records.  Actually, Facedown Records is an interesting choice, because My Epic isn’t hardcore (like 90% of the other bands on Facedown).   Really, My Epic is more of a indie-rock-emo-alternative-ish, talented, band.  Oh well, at least the guys are signed.

Anyways, My Epic has a free demo track up on their Purevolume page called “The Antidote”.  The song it self is quite good, for a demo, and besides that, it’s free.  Can’t beat that.

-My Epic on Purevolume-

Plus, I just found that My Epic has a blog called “Epic Thoughts”, which you can read here.

Ten Free Songs From Sufjan Stevens

Today, we have a bunch of free songs by Sufjan Stevens. You may remember a while back that Matt posted a download of one of his songs. Well, if you like his music, this is like that, but ten times better. What you get is 50 minutes of free amazing music.

First off, we have 5 songs off of download.com. All of these songs are off of his most recent records, like his breakthrough Michigan and his critically-acclaimed masterpiece Illinois. Highly recommended, and hey, if you happen to not enjoy his music, its free, right?

-Sufjan Stevens on Download.com-

Now, we have some really special downloads. Sufjan Stevens has his own record label (though I’m not sure if any other artists are Christian artists), and on his artist page, he has 5 more songs, including two older tracks and two Christmas songs.

Free Song from Robbie Seay Band

Imagine a machine.  It’s tall and narrow, reaching well through the ceiling.  There is a square, red button once every week to auto-magically get a new, free mp3 to your computer.  This machine is so magically that sometimes it even releases two or three downloads.

Drop the magic, switch the machine to a website, and you’ve got a fairly accurate picture of how cool iTicket’s is.  Every week they bring out a new free download for your listening pleasure.  This week, it’s a free song by Robbie Seay Band called “Rise” from their CD Give Yourself Away.  Check it out!
