Flynn Adam Feels It Now

Flynn AdamsFree track from Flynn Adam today, courtesy of iTicket’s. The song is “Feel It Now”, a brand new song Flynn recorded for the new Hip Hope 2009 project, a Christian hip-hop collection coming out in February.

The track is pretty good, and Flynn keeps it fresh and energetic.  Plus, it’s free.  :)

“You’d Better Get Used To This Sore Throat”

Free music today from Christian hardcore band See the Light.  I’m pretty sure they are from California.

Now the thing about See the Light is, they are, well, different.  In a very good way.  I listen to a lot of hardcore (in fact, I’m watching Gospel Music Channel’s Metalhead as I type), and I’m quite sure there’s no artist quite like See the Light out there, at least as far a Christian music goes.  The best way to describe them would be to take The Devil Wears Prada, throw in some classical piano and have the result play praise & worship music.  Unique is probably the best word to describe them.

Now, to get to the download.  The band has got “You’d Better Get Used to This Sore Throat” up on their MySpace page as a free download.  Since MySpace’s download system isn’t working at present, the guys have a link to MegaUpload, where you can download the track.  The song itself is kind of a diamond in the rough, good, but not very polished.

Personally, I think they have huge potential, and could be really amazing with some better productional.  Even right now, I really like the track, first, because the focus is on God, and two, because piano and brutal music just go seem to go together for me.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy these guys as much as I do.

Free Track from Group 1 Crew

Free music today from Group 1 Crew, that energetic hip-hop trio.  Total Axxess has got the song “Movin’” up as a ‘MPFREE’ download on their website (right sidebar).  It’s the first track on Ordinary Dreamers, G1C’s latest effort, and quite a good song.  It reminds me of TobyMac’s “Ignition” a lot, lyrically and musically, but thankfully G1C throws in a some unexpected musical tricks and manages to keep it fresh.

Also, when you’re on the site, you might want to click the link to “Circle Bunnies”.  I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say that it’s one of most covered songs in Christian music history.  Skillet’s version is particularly good.  :)   Enjoy!

Free Track from Esterlyn

Esterlyn Mending the Meaning

I’m really, really excited about today’s download.  It’s from Esterlyn, and the song is “Sweet Love”.  It’s from Esterlyn’s brand new acoustic EP, Mending The Meaning.  I know I’m totally biased, since Esterlyn was my favorite new band of last year, but the song is really very good.  Amazing.  And the best part is it’s free from Indie Vision Music.  Needless to say, I highly recommend it.  Enjoy!

MercyMe “Goodbye Ordinary”

MercyMe All That Is Within Me

Good news for MercyMe fans – the 20 The Countdown Magazine has got “Goodbye Ordinary”, from MercyMe’s latest CD All That Is Within Me.  The download is supposed to be up for a week, but since it’s over that already, it probably won’t be available much longer.

Finding the download link is a bit hard, but if you scroll down about half way down and look on the left sidebar you can probably find it.  It’s the top blinking box.  Enjoy!

Free Music from Philmont

It’s been quite a while since I was really excited about an iTicket’s download, but I am this week.  Why?  Four words:

Philmont.  “My Hippocratic Oath”.

Philmont Oh Snap

Yep, a free Philmont song.  Not only that, but it’s the best song I’ve heard from Philmont yet.  “The Difference” & “I Can’t Stand To Fall” were both good songs, but “My Hippocratic Oath” is my favorite.  It’s a urgent song, fast-paced and driving, which goes really well with the medical emergency themed lyrics.   Actually, it sounds a lot like “Hello Jack”, my former favorite Philmont song from their independant EP.  Both are very epic and exciting.

Anyway, the point is you don’t want to miss this song.  It’s only going to be available till Monday, so don’t waste time.

Free Song from Andreas Sandlund

Andreas Sandlund Diamond No:1

Wow – today is post #401 on The Free Christian Music Blog.  Hard to believe.  We’re 1/2 of the way to 802 posts, which we’ll hit eventually, God willing.

Anyway, I’ve got an exclusive download today from a new Christian artist from Sweden named Andreas Sandlund.  I’ve got his permission to offer the song “We’re Miles Away”, the first track from his latest CD Diamond No: 1.  It’s an ambient pop track which reminds me of Jeremy Casella, only without the folk sound.  The lyrics are good, the vocals are good (and in English, in case you were wondering.  :)   There is a cool accent though.), and the music is pretty good as well.

This is actually the first international artist TFCMB has been able to provide an exclusive download for, and I’m interested to see what you all think of it.  Enjoy!

400th Post: Free Music From Half-Handed Cloud

This is the 400th post on the site, and today I’m presenting to you about a dozen free songs from the artist Half-handed Cloud.  Half-handed Cloud is a recording artist (consisting of mainly just John Ringhofer, but also any collaborators) on Asthmatic Kitty Records, which is founded and run by Sufjan Stevens.  Pretty much all of his songs are between one and two minutes long, though I’ve seen a few that were longer than that and one that was just under a minute.  His songs are a little bit quirky, but in a fun way, and some of them are about obscure Bible stories from the Old Testament, though I couldn’t find any of them up for [legal] download.

However, I do have a lot of songs for you, so it’d probably be good to go ahead and give them to you.  The first batch that I have are from this his artist page on his record label’s website.  Asthmatic Kitty Records is giving away 5 of his songs, including my favorite, “Animals Are Cut In Two,” a song about Jesus being a sacrifice, just like the animals were in Old Testament times.  It feels weird trying to describe a song when the description is almost as long as the song itself, which is 4 lines long.  But anyway, these five are a pretty good show of how his music sounds, and it will only take you about 7 minutes to get a pretty complete overview of his music.

-Half-handed Cloud on AsthmaticKitty.com-

John Ringhofer and his band are involved with another label, Sounds Familyre, and they have two songs, one already feature at the above link, and another titled “To Love Like The Father And Son Love Each Other” on their artist page at this label’s site.

-Half-handed Cloud on SoundsFamilyre.com-

The third place you can find free songs (4 of them) from Half-handed Cloud is a place called Daytrotter.  It is a music website that features a lot of indie and experimental artists, and they don’t give downloads of songs off of artists albums, but instead either give away rare b-sides or exclusive re-recordings (sometimes in better sound quality than the original).  Unfortunately, very few of the people featured claim to be Christians, and even fewer can be featured here due to some of them having questionable lyrics.  However, nothing about HHC’s has to be questioned, because it is unashamedly Christian.

Half-handed Cloud on Daytrotter.com-

Two more places that you can find his songs are LastFM and Download.com.  While all of the songs on Download.com can be found in previously mentioned sites, I’m giving you the link just in case there is a problem with any of them.  LastFM has three songs, two of which are the original versions of ones found on Daytrotter.

-Half-handed Cloud on LastFM-

-Half-handed Cloud on Download.com-

The last site I found legal free downloads of his music was a site that featured a compilation of Christmas songs.  I know Christmas is over, but “Plant A Little Fur Tree” is a fun little song, so you should give it a listen.

-Half-handed Cloud on SoundsAreActive.com-

So yeah, there is all of it.  For an added bonus, you should read his bio on one of his artists pages.  He is an interesting guy for sure.  Oh, and I don’t want to alienate anyone by using words like quirky, but it is the best way to describe his music.  I do recommend giving him a listen, and if you don’t like it, you’ve waisted a third the amount of time as you would if you were giving any other artists a listen.

PS: Woohoo!  400 posts!

Update & Correction

First off, I’m happy to announce that the free download from Remedy Drive is now working.  You can get the detail on my original post.  “Stand Up” is a great song if you haven’t gotten it yet.

Also, I have a correction to make.  A while back I featured a song I attributed to RedCloud, “The Three Kings”.  Turns out it was actually a collaboration between several Syntax Records artists, specifically RedCloud, Kaboose, and Jeremiah Bonds.  It also appears that the official name for the song is “Thee Three Kings”.  I’m sorry for the mistake, I try to avoid them, but occasionally they do happen.  There does happen to be a silver lining to this one though.

Since I’m on the topic of, it gives me an excellent excuse to mention the Rap Fest Presents Vol. 2 sampler, the 38 track free CD that “Thee Three Kings” is from.  Regular commenter Aylaeh alerted me to it back on the original post.  You can download the whole thing at ILLSPOT.net.  Enjoy!  :)

Free Music from Sonsofday

Gospel Music Channel has got a free song from Sonsofday this week.  Sonsofday is one of few independat artists to play on GMC, and they actually won a Gospel Music Channel Video Award this year, beating out several signed artists.  The song they have up is a shorter one called “Fragile People”, the title track of their new CD.  I was just reading their bio on their website, and the guys have a amazing story about how they became a band.  Worth reading if you have a minute.

Anyway, check the song out, and watch for Sonsofday.  I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys were one of the next big things in Christian music.
