Free EPs from Andrew Osenga

Andy Osenga used to be the lead singer in a band called the Normals, and is a guitarist and vocalist for Caedmon’s Call. He currently pursues a solo career, in which he has released four albums. On his website, he has two EPs (Letters to the Editor Vol. 1 and Letters to the Editor Vol. 2), three songs from other albums, and three unreleased songs that you can download for free. If you like Caedmon’s Call, or anything acoustic, then you should definitely listen to this.

The Lyrycyst

LyrycystAside from having a great name with three “y”‘s in it, Christian hip-hop artist Lyrycyst (sometimes Steven Cooper) also recented Twittered a link to a free mp3 download of one of his latest tracks, “Go Get ‘Em”.  The song sounds just about right to bouncing in the car, driving with the top down, just jamming…  Check it out!

Free song from Mat Kearney

Mat KearneyFollowing James’ last post, Toyota is featuring a Christian artist again on their Myspace page. This time, it is a free song from Mat Kearney. The song is “Fire and Rain” and it is from his latest and highly anticipated release, City of Black & White. The song is about God waiting for the prodigal son to come home. He is waiting with an un-fading love, ready to pick His son up with arms wide open, even through the “Fire and Rain”.  It is a really good song, and it deeply touched me. I personally think it is Mat Kearney’s best song from City of Black and White. Anyway, head over to Toyota’s Myspace page to get this download. Like James said in the “The Fray” post, you do not need to have a Myspace account to download. It will also only be available for one week; until June 1st. Enjoy the song!  :)

Many thanks to James for finding free weekly music downloads from Toyota’s Music Myspace!

Relevant Update

Tenth Avenue NorthDid anyone else notice when Relevant Magazine took their free song page down a while back?  I was pretty disappointed when I noticed that their epic list of free, legal, live, acoustic, song downloads was missing.  Thankfully…

Relevant Magazine recently updated their website, and have put the same great list of downloads up, just on another URL.  Same songs, different web page.  If you haven’t download these yet, and live, acoustic performances by artists like Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Sara Groves, Pigeon John, and No More Kings sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss this.  You can either link up here, or check out my old post for more information in my post about it.

Free Songs from Revive

ReviveHere’s some free music today from a new band, Revive. Revive is a vibrant pop/rock band from Australia, which caught the attention of Third Day’s lead singer, Mac Powell, while Third Day was touring there. Turns out, Mac Powell kept in touch with Revive, and played a part with them getting hooked up with Essential Records. Mac Powell also got the opportunity to co-produce and sing in Revive’s new album, Chorus of the Saints.  Not only that, but Revive also had the privilege to open up for Third Day’s Revelation Tour, which just ended a few weeks ago and sold out over 1/3 of their concerts. Anyway, this band sounds pretty great, and Third Day seems to think so as well. You can get the title track to their album, Chorus of the Saints from Third Day’s website, and you can also get “Welcome To Eternity”, an exclusive bonus track download, from Bandmanager/Bandfarm. As a note, Bandmanager/Bandfarm requires you to sign up to Revive’s email newsletter. Also, “Chorus of the Saints” was featured previously several weeks ago as a download from iTickets.com.

While Revive was traveling with Third Day and Brandon Heath on the Revelation Tour, the guys of Revive pulled a hilarious prank on one of my personal favorite artists, Brandon Heath. Acting as Christian radio hosts, Dave and Rich of Revive interview Brandon Heath, asking him some very odd questions. It is really funny, and I hope you all would have a good laugh out of it like I did.

Now Hear This! Discover New Music!

Now Hear This

That’s right, I think it’s time that we heard and started discovering some good new music. Well, EMI CMG’s new artist promotion has made it possible for us to do just that. At Amazon’s MP3 store, you can get either Now Hear This – Pop or Now Hear This – Rock. The pop sampler includes the artists Sarah Reeves, Josh Wilson, Phillip LaRue, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, and Jason Allen Rich. The rock sampler includes Danyew, Above The Golden State, Philmont, Future of Forestry, Seven Stories Up, and Capital Lights. Several of the songs on Now Hear This were also given as free downloads at tangle.com as well. So if you can’t access an Amazon account, you can search tangle.com and pick some of them up there. Also, Amazon requires you to purchase each sampler as a whole to get it free. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay $0.99 for each song. I don’t know why it is like that, but I’d take both samplers for free rather than buying it song by song. ;-)

As a side note, you can also get your hands on this sampler at your local Christian bookstore with a purchase an album by any of the featured artists.

-Now Hear This: Discover New Music – Rock on Amazon.com-

While you’re on Amazon, you can also pick yet another Christian music sample. Yes, you heard me right. This time, the sampler is from the Word Label Group. You might have seen the new 6 Picks: Essential Radio Essentials from artists such as, Stellar Kart, Big Daddy Weave, or Sixpence None the Richer. Each 6 Picks EP is compromised of the six best songs from each respective artist. It’s sort of like a ‘best of’ album, just that it’s an EP. Anyway, you can get the 6 Picks Radio Hits Sampler for free at Amazon. This sampler includes Big Daddy Weave, Building 429, Barlowgirl, Rachael Lampa, Sixpence None The Richer, and Jaci Velasquez.

Free Song From The Fray

Toyota has been giving away free music on Myspace for a while now, but until today, no Christian artist has been featured. The fact that they have “Never Say Never” by the Fray featured is good for two reason. First off, it means my checking the site every week (even when I wasn’t writing for the site) since it started sometime last year wasn’t in vain, and secondly it means I can bring you more free music. Unfortunately for me, my computer is currently having trouble downloading it, but that hopefully won’t be a problem for you. Also, from the way it is hosted, I don’t beleive that this requires a Myspace account to download. I may be wrong though. The problem could be that I haven’t logged in yet.  Hurry and download this, for it will only be up until next Monday, May 25th.

They’ve Come A Long Way: Anberlin

I was watching music videos on TV this afternoon, and I happened to see some very, very old videos from Skillet & Switchfoot.  As I watched them, I thought it was funny how far they’ve come (and how they’ve aged…) since their first music videos.  As I thought, I decided I need to showcase a few examples of just how far a few of your favorite artists have come since their first projects.  To kick it off, I’ve found Anberlin’s “Ready Fuels” from their debut Blueprints for the Black Market, and “The Unwinding Cable Car” from their third album, Cities

“Ready Fuels”

“The Unwinding Cable Car”

Now, haven’t they come a long way? Enjoy! :)

Oh, and if you don’t have it already, you can download “Ready Fuels” , along with “A Day Late” and “Glass to the Arson”, from Anberlin’s Purevolume profile, here:

Free Song from Eleventyseven (Deja Vu?)

Eleventyseven

Yep, Eleventyseven again.  I guess the guys realized that we’d never be happy with just one free song, so they decided to add a second.  The new song in question is actually from their last CD, Galactic Conquest, and is called “Love In Your Arms”.  You can download the mp3 for free from the band’s Purevolume page…

-Eleventyseven on Purevolume-

Now, about the song.  11T7′s music video for the song pretty much sums it up.  If you’re not hooked by the time they blast Flatfoot 56 (who make a cameo as some local bullies) with lightning, I don’t know if anything will convince you.  :)   You can check it out on Youtube:
