You + The Wrecking = Twilight Movie Appearence?

Okay, let me get this straight.  I’m not a Twilight fan.  I haven’t read the books or seen the movie.  But I am a fan of The Wrecking, and when I heard that their song “Our Feet Don’t Touch the Ground” was being considered for the soundtrack of the next Twilight movie, New Moon, I knew I had to help get the word out.  So…

  • Go to http://www.theTwilightSong.com and listen to “Our Feet Don’t Touch the Ground.”
  • Click to vote for The Wrecking.
  • Tell all your friends to do the same.

That’s not too hard, is it?  And just think of the good you’d be doing!  You’d be supporting The Wrecking, listen to an amazing song from them, and you’d be improving the new Twilight movie.  What could be better?

  1. I’m glad you haven’t watched the Twilight movies or read the books. Don’t. They are morally repugnant and I’m astonished at how far a series like that has gotten in the “christian” market. The only way for the movie to be “improved” is if it is never released. the books are written by a Mormon and supposedly support abstinence. However, the “abstinence” that is in the movie is heavily legalistic. They do just about everything with each other besides explicitly sleeping together. Abstinence is a mindset, not a rule to get as close as possible to breaking. I have never read the entirety of the books myself but I have read extensive reviews and excerpts from both sides of the argument (FOR Twilight and against it) on both the movie and the books. They are written by a Mormon (generally considered a morally good religion) and are openly proclaimed to support abstinence, so mothers have highly encouraged their daughters to read these books without reading them themselves. My mother did this same thing and finally decided to read them since they were supposedly good. These books have been banned from our house and everyone that has read them has written an essay (of their own free will) on why these books are bad and should not be read by any Christian, much less teens.

…Sorry for the diatribe, I’ve just seen too many people fall into the trap of Twilight obsession and I really don’t want that to happen to you too.

  5. [...] but I love any chance at a Christian band or anything Christian to get something big like that. Vote for them here (and tell all your friends about it) and download the song. Did I post all this [...]

  7. Craig: I know you could at first, and I did download it then, but when I went to write the post last Saturday the download link was gone. :( I don’t know if they took it off on purpose or what, but I’ll be keeping an eye on the site, and when/if they put it back up again, I’ll update everyone.

Also, for everyone else who’s curious about the story behind the song, you can read The Wrecking member Douglas’s story-behind-the-song over on this Twilight fan blog. He sent the same story out through Facebook as well.

  11. No offense to Mr. Edwards, but if Twilight is as corrupt as you suggest ( I wouldn’t know, I never will read them) then shouldn’t the people watcing the sinfull movie have a chance to be witnessed to by a Christian band?

  13. This is a great song and an amazing band. And… what an incredible opportunity for Christian influence to infiltrate mainstream entertainment. Definitely go vote http://www.thetwilightsong.com.

  17. Hey Guys, i just wanted to chime in as someone who has actually had the chance to talk to the band after a show about this issue. First, these guys are as real as it gets. True believers and amazing musicians. I spoke to Darren the drummer (Douglas’ brother) after a show about the song and what he hoped would come of it. He was so excited about the fact that he was able to explain The Gospel to a girl who had come across the song because of interest in Twilight. This girl was clear that she had no plans of entering a church for any reason. He said that the song belongs to Christ and He can put it wherever He wants and the glory will be His!

  19. ‘explicitly sleeping together’

I’m sorry, I just find this phrasing funny, seeing how the phrase ’sleeping together’ is itself intended to not be explicit. I believe you mean ‘they do everything except actually have sex’
And no number of reviews and arguments that you can read will substitute for reading the book and developing your own opinion.
I haven’t read Twilight, and don’t plan on it, but I did read Harry Potter and remember the big scare over the stuff in it, started by people who hadn’t even read it, and I don’t want that to happen to other books.
