Run For That Top 40 Gold

Free music today from The Great Transparency, a fairly new Christian power-pop band from Ohio. If you like Hello Kelly, Eleventyseven, or even Mikeschair, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy the two free songs the band has on their Purevolume profile. Both songs are from the band’s first EP, Run For It. The first of the two songs, the title track “Run For It”, is an encouraging song about, well, running for it, and is actually pretty good.
The next track, “Top 40 Gold”, is just as good, but far less serious. The gist of the song is just having fun “in a sweet land of rock & roll, American best and the top 40 gold.” Even though the song is kind of fun, the best part is actually the interlude, half way through the song, featuring a “informative” discourse on how “non-lethal damage goes away much faster then lethal damage,” and several other interesting tidbits, evidently derived from Dungeons and Dragons. I’ve listen to the song several times since I downloaded, and it still cracks me up. Worth getting for sure!

Edit: I’ve been doing a bit of research on the band, and it looks like “Run For It” was also on The Great Transparency’s new EP If Worse Comes to Worse, and is actually the band’s current single. So if you like the song… you can go request it.

The Great Transparency actually toured with my cousin’s band, The Ending Up (unfortunately, their band broke up about a year ago, but their myspace is still up http://www.myspace.com/endingup ) along with Me In Motion. Anyways, TGT is a pretty good band, so check em out!
Awesome! I’ve opened up for these guys a couple times now with my band. They’re an awesome group of guys. It’s really cool to see them show up here.

Phooey. I went looking for “Run For It”, but it’s no longer a free download.
“Don’t You Ever” is, though. I haven’t heard it yet…
