1000 Generations: Back With A Vengeance

A long, long time ago, in a post written back in May of 2008, I was able to offer two exclusive free songs from indie praise & worship band 1000 Generations.  The two songs, “Not of Our Hands” and “Prove Us Wrong” (both from the band’s To Those Who Cry album,) were made available for free through the TFCMB MyCCM account.  Since then, 1000 Generations was signed by Varietal Records, and MyCCM completely changed their site format, leaving the downloads unavailable.

That is, until today.  I’ve got both tracks (complete with album art and ID3 information) in a .zip file and uploaded, ready for your downloading pleasure.  Enjoy!

First Christmas Download of the Year!

And yes, I’m aware it’s only October 7th, but hey, is it ever to early for new free Downhere Christmas music?  I think not, and therefore, this post…

As it turns out, Downhere’s brand new Christmas album, How Many Kings: Songs for Christmas, came out yesterday, and thanks to Centricity Records, I’m honored to bring you a free download of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman” from that album as a TFCMB exclusive download.

Like pretty much everything Downhere has ever done, it’s great – just a little bit funky (along the lines of Downhere’s “My Last Amen”), but it still has that holiday feel.  All around, a worthy song that will make you wish Christmas wasn’t so far away.    Enjoy!

Free Download from Matt Papa

I don’t know about you, but I think Matt Papa is a pretty cool guy.  I mean, he has a great first name.  Well, okay, so maybe I’m a little biased, but Matt’s still a cool guy, who makes some very cool worship music.  James posted about a free download of his song “Hallelujah, Our God Reigns” about two weeks ago, and through that, Centricity Records contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in featuring a song from Matt’s new album, Your Kingdom Come.

Of course, I said yes, absolutely,  so I’m happy to announce this brand new (as far as I know) TFCMB exclusive download of Matt Papa’s new song “Open Hands”.  You can download the song, plus a chord chart for the song, and a video of Matt explaining the story behind the song, all for free in a .zip file. The song itself is great, and the chord chart & video are an added bonus.  The only downside is the file is pretty big (over 70 megabytes), but so long as you don’t have dial up that shouldn’t be an issue.

Anyway, download the song, watch the video, learn to play it with the chord chart (this video might help too) and look for the CD to drop tomorrow (August 25).  Enjoy!

Free Song from Danyew

Free music today from a new artist named Danyew.  His self-titled debut is out on Sparrow Records now, and I’m excited to bring you a free song from that EP, “Streetlight”, as an almost-TFCMB exclusive.

I say exclusive, because I’ve got permission to host the mp3 and let you all download it.  I say almost because it’s available elsewhere.  Oh well, I’m still excited to feature this guy – I think you’ll see why.

The first two artists that popped into my head as I listened to “Streetlight” for the first time were Leeland and Phil Wickham… Let’s just say if Leeland’s “Count Me In” is the musical peanut butter, and Phil Wickham’s songs are the jelly, and you just a pinch of Avery Pkwy, you’d get a tasty sandwich that sounds something like Danyew.  Delicious!

If you like either Leeland or Wickham, I can almost guarantee that’ll you enjoy Danyew.  And if you don’t, give it a try.  The song is really quite good, and after all, it’s free!  What do you have to lose?

Free Song from Andreas Sandlund

Wow – today is post #401 on The Free Christian Music Blog.  Hard to believe.  We’re 1/2 of the way to 802 posts, which we’ll hit eventually, God willing.

Anyway, I’ve got an exclusive download today from a new Christian artist from Sweden named Andreas Sandlund.  I’ve got his permission to offer the song “We’re Miles Away”, the first track from his latest CD Diamond No: 1.  It’s an ambient pop track which reminds me of Jeremy Casella, only without the folk sound.  The lyrics are good, the vocals are good (and in English, in case you were wondering.    There is a cool accent though.), and the music is pretty good as well.

This is actually the first international artist TFCMB has been able to provide an exclusive download for, and I’m interested to see what you all think of it.  Enjoy!

New Artists Sista ‘O’ & d’Vine Praize

I’ve got an exclusive download today from a new artist: Sista ‘O’ & d’Vine Praize. Not only do they have hard names to type, they also have a new CD out called Meditation and a new single at radio, “Givin’ It Up”.

It’s “Givin’ It Up” that I get to bring you today, courtesy of Miles High Productions.  It’s a smooth stand-up-and clap-your-hands-and-stomp-your-feet-and-sing-hallelujah-sort-of-song.  Even though it’s not what I normally listen too, I still enjoyed it.  Good song, good message.  Enjoy!

Hymns Unleased!

Free music today that’s a bit different from anything I’ve ever written about before.  I have a TFCMB exclusive download of “It Is Well With My Soul” by Jesse Cardenas.  It’s part of a new project called Hymns Unleashed.  Here’s the scoop on the song:

“A while back, I was watching a good friend of mine, Jesse Cardenas, ripping away on his guitar.  I asked him if he thought he could rearrange one of the famous old hymns that had a beautiful melody and maybe ‘spice it up a bit.’ One of my favorite’s is ‘It Is Well With My Soul.’”

There you have it.  You are about to download an original electric guitar rendition of “It Is Well With My Soul”.  I wasn’t sold when I first heard it, but after listening to it, I have to say I really like it.  I love the old hymns, and I love guitars, so it kind of made sense to like it.

2 Free Song Downloads from Tessa Rae Newman

One style of music you rarely see free is country.  Compared to any other genre, it’s harder to find good country downloads then almost any other genre.  Because of that, it’s not something I’m able to feature often on The Free Christian Music Blog.  However, there are anomalies to every trend.

Today’s free downloads is one of those anomalies.  I’ve had this for months, and I had actually forgotten about till just recently, when I re-discovered the songs.  The artist is Tessa Rae Newman, the songs, “Momma Always Makes It Better” and “On the Wings of an Angel”, the CD, Spellbound.  Check the songs out below, and also check out Tessa’s website for more information.

Exclusive From 1000 Generations

Today, I’m honored to have free music from 1000 Generations. The band has graciously allowed me to feature two of their songs, “Prove Us Wrong” and “Not Of Our Hands”, in a The Free Christian Music Blog exclusive.

Musically, the praise and worship band lists Caedmon’s Call and David Crowder*Band among their influences, with a little tribal-inspired beat. The music is definitely good, and if you enjoy a piano-driven song, you definitely want to check them out. After all, it’s free.
