Jesus Freak Hideout Free Music Update
Free music today from Jesus Freak Hideout, one of my favorite Christian music websites. JFH has a rather impressive list of free and legal song downloads. I haven’t covered the page in a while, and I figured it was time for an update, especially since they’ve got so much new music added. For example, Phil Joel’s Christmas song “Nativity”, hip-hopper JustMe’s song “How I Met Your Mother”, Fiction Family’s “When She’s Near”, All Star United’s rock/pop jam “Surface of the Sun”, and two from Eleventyseven, the rockin’ “Nightmare” and crazy and exclusive “Cody’s Song”.
There’s actually quite a story behind “Cody’s Song” – it’s from a contest sponsored by Eleventyseven and run by Jesus Freak Hideout. Entrants gave a list of 10 or so facts about them, and then Eleventyseven used those facts to write a song about the winner, who happened to be named Cody. The result is downright zany pop/hip-hop style theme song like no other.
Besides that, there’s also several older songs still available, namely Jars of Clay’s “Closer”, Lanae’ Hale’s “Love Is Worth The Fight”, Sixpence None The Richer’s “Angels We Have Heard on High”, and Sara Groves’ “O Holy Night”. Good stuff all around, at least if you ask me. Enjoy!
Some Really Good Picks

Picks. It’s the name of the latest free compilation from Huntington University (the same university that released the stellar Youniversity CD last year), and it rocks. It features almost entirely new, indie, or under-the-radar artists, most of which are really good. The first track, “Wait On You”, for example, is by a band called Attaboy, a very talented pop-rock band along the lines of Stellar Kart. “Wait On You” has a great message too, and is probably my favorite song on the CD. Other highlights are Heath McNease’s hilarious song about video games, “Nintendo Thumb”, and The Contact’s eerie but good rock track “My Divine”. Really, though, all of the songs are quite good. Here’s the tracklisting:
- Attaboy – “Wait On You”
- The Contact – “My Divine”
- Red Umbrella – “Boompop”
- Heath McNease – “Nintendo Thumb”
- Hello Kelly – “Favorite Arcade”
- Attaboy – “California”
- Sinclair – “You Found Me”
- Adam Cappa – “Jesus Song”
- Sevenglory – “The Best Is Yet To Come”
- Betsy Walker – “Great Big Savior”
Also, if that’s not sweet enough for you, Huntington also has 4 other songs available, “Blind Man” by The Fabulous, “Remembering” by Alisa Turner, Eleventyseven’s “Trying”, and another great song from Attaboy, “Shout”.
Now, to download the music, you’ll need to sign up at HUzic website, and request an access code. When I first signed up, I got my code in the mail on a neat little sheet of paper – which I promptly lost.
I signed up again, and the next time, I got my code in an email. Either way, once you get the code, you just need to visit the HUzic website and log in with your information and the special code, and you can download all 14 songs, for free, just like that.
Just so you know, this is a promotion from Huntington, so don’t be surprised if you get mailings from them in the future. Personally, I think it’s totally worth it, but it’s up to you. Enjoy!
Eleventyseven – “Evil Genius”
If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a pretty big Eleventyseven fan, and one of the first two songs I heard from their new album Adventures in Eville was an zany little number called “Evil Genius”. The music video for the song just came out, and I just have to share it with you all. Part boy-meets-girl, part quest for world domination, and a whole lot of lighthearted silly (geeky) fun all around, prepare yourself for a music video like no other…
Oh, and Grover Cleveland deserves an Oscar. Just sayin’.
New Eleventyseven Song Free!

This just in from the bands Twitter account:
“Free Music Friday is posted: Get a free song! And tell your friends!!! http://bit.ly/ISY51“
The song is “Nightmare”, and it’s free from AbsolutePunk as part of their “Free Music Friday” series. It’s also from their brand new CD Adventures in Eville, and it’s one of the best songs on there (in my opinion). Good stuff. Check it out!
Adventures in Eville

Though there isn’t any free music involved (other then these two that I’ve already posted – check here and here!), I wanted to give the guys in Eleventyseven a quick shout out. Their brand new CD, Adventures in Eville, hit Amazon just 3 days ago, and judging by what I’ve heard that the reviews, it’s definitely worth checking out.
I would especially recommend the song “Evil Genius” to anyone who enjoys
Relient K’s “Sadie Hawkins Dance”. It’s that kind of song, totally catchy and upbeat, that will get stuck in your head for days and make your friends look at you funny whenever they catch you singing it out loud. Actually, just typing about it now got it stuck in my head. :\
Anyway, check it out, and keep your eyes peeled for the video for “Evil Genius” to surface soon. I’ve seen a few clips, and it should be very worth while…
Free Song from Eleventyseven (Deja Vu?)

Yep, Eleventyseven again. I guess the guys realized that we’d never be happy with just one free song, so they decided to add a second. The new song in question is actually from their last CD, Galactic Conquest, and is called “Love In Your Arms”. You can download the mp3 for free from the band’s Purevolume page…
Now, about the song. 11T7’s music video for the song pretty much sums it up. If you’re not hooked by the time they blast Flatfoot 56 (who make a cameo as some local bullies) with lightning, I don’t know if anything will convince you.
You can check it out on Youtube:

Free Songs from Eleventyseven & The Fold

That’s right, Christian music’s resident group of unicorn-guardians (who also happen to be talented electro-pop-rock band Eleventyseven) have decided to unlease another wave of amazing-ness in the form of a new album, entitled Adventures in Eville. June just got so much better.
Since the guys in 11T7 are such generous, kind souls, it should come as no surprise that they’ve already released one of the songs from Adventures in Eville as a free download. The song, “Trying”, is available on the band’s iLike page, where you can the download “Trying” for free, and listen to another one of the guys new songs, “Evil Genius”. I don’t know about the evil part, but both are definitely genius. Just go download “Trying”, you’ll be happy you did. Or you’ll be destroyed by cyborg robot squirrels. Yeah. Check it out!
I was just going to feature Eleventyseven today, but I just heard through Twitter that The Fold is giving away their song “Faster Still” on their Purevolume, today (May 13, 2009) only. I know it’s late, but if you’re still up (like me…), and are up for some more great free music, you can link up here:
Eleventyseven and Our Hearts Hero
If you think back to Christmas of this year, you’ll likely remember that Eleventyseven released a Christmas song on their Myspace profile. The problem was you had to be a Myspace member to download the song. Now, that’s not a problem. The band just uploaded the song to Purevolume, where you can download “Christmas Magic is Here” without a membership.
And in other news, FreeGotee.com recently added a new Our Hearts Hero song. It’s called “Save Me”, and you can download the mp3 for free. If you’ve never been to FreeGotee.com before, you’re definately going to want to check out the other songs from Family Force 5, Relient K, Stephanie Smith, Ayiesha Woods, and more.Christmas Series: Day 5 – Eleventyseven
While the last four days’ downloads have been pretty mellow, I decided to shake things up a bit with some festive electro-punk. Today’s free download is from Eleventyseven, who recorded a original Christmas song called “Christmas Magic is Here”. It’s pretty much just a fun, rockin’ around the tree Christmas song. As with yesterday’s download, you need to be signed in on Myspace to download the song. Again, if you aren’t on Myspace (and not everyone is) find a friend who is who’ll can download it for you.
Also, several artists have uploaded Christmas songs to their websites, Myspaces’, or Purevolume. You can check out Eleventyseven’s tour mates Stellar Kart’s own take on Christmas music with “Punk the Halls”. You can listen to it online here. Also, August Burns Red also recorded a Christmas song “Carol of the Bells”. If you’ve ever wondered what a hardcore-Christmas songs sounds like, you need to check it out. I was really impressed
by it. It’s still screamo, but it somehow it feels like a Christmas song. You can listen to it here.
Also, we got power yesterday! It happened at noon, almost right after I posted yesterday.
