Unexpected Sources of Free Music – Part 1

I know this isn’t totally free, but when a friend emailed me about this, I knew I had to feature it… is got Absolute Smash Hits Volumes 1 & 2, a four disc CD se

t (think a WOW Hits clone), on sale for $5.99.  That’s 50 songs for 6 bucks.  50 songs!  That’s 8.3472454090150250417362270450751* cents per song.  That’s approximately 91 cents cheaper per song then iTunes.  Not bad at all, for a collection of some of Christian music’s greatest hits.  In fact, it’s a steal.  Not as good as free, but almost.

Of course there has to be a downside.  In this case it’s the selection.  It’s almost all somewhat under-the-radar artists CCM artists.  The loudest it get’s in 12 Stones and Skillet.  But, that maybe perfect for you, in which case that would be a plus and not a minus.  So, anyway, it’s worth checking out.

Hip-Hop Overdose

Hip-hop fans rejoice! I have hundreds of free Christian rap songs. Seriously, what I’m about to tell you about is the biggest amount of gospel hip-hop I’ve ever seen in one spot before.

The website is They have a unbelievable amount of free music. It’s crazy. It’s awesome. From Applejaxx to YSG-Timothy, they have it all. Due to the amount of music available, I won’t try to name all the artists. They do have awesome tracks from John Reuben, KJ-52, GRITS, the Cross Movement, Verbs, Playdough, and LA Symphony. Really, you need to see it for yourself. I recommend just picking something that looks interesting and downloading away.

Even if you aren’t big on rap, you still may like some of the songs on the list. For example, “Are You Real?” by KJ-52 featuring Kutless is an anthematic rock song which was featured on the X series. Also, John Reuben and Matt Thiessen of Relient K did an awesome, ridiculously catchy song called “Nuisance”. And then there’s LA Symphony’s “Timeless”… I highly recommend all three to everyone.

Another awesome part of the list is the exclusive songs. Even if you own every Christian hip-hop CD ever, you can probably find some new music. Lots of remixes, and instrumentals. Even a few Christmas songs! It’s just awesome.

Music from the Backwoods Legend…

Music today from the backwoods legend, J Remy. You may know him from his western music video “You Don’t Know Me”. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, I’ve embedded it below. Seriously good western-southern-hip-hop. But first, the songs. “Country Boys” and “You Don’t Know Me”, the second of which features Bonafide of Grits and Pigeon John. They are both from J Remy’s first CD The Backwoods Legend.
