Fuel Returns (And Matt’s Head Explodes)
It’s true – Tooth & Nail and Solid State Records have let loose yet another unbelievably epic sampler to wreck musically chaos on the eardrums of fans everywhere. In fact, the only thing that could come close to touching this is the last Fuel sampler. The tracklist:
- Surrogate – “Exercise Machines”
- Living Sacrifice – “Overkill Exposure (Rough Mix)”
- Haste the Day – “68″
- As Cities Burn – “84′ Sheepdog”
- Children 18:3 – “All My Balloons”
- FM Static – “Boy Moves To A New Town With Optimistic Outlook”
- Thousand Foot Krutch – “Bring Me To Life”
- Emery – “Cutthroat Collapse”
- Ivoryline – “Days End”
- mewithoutYou – “Every Thought A Thought of You”
- The Crucified – “The Pit”
- MxPx – “Punk Rock Girl”
- The Ascendicate – “Scottish”
- Oh, Sleeper – “Son of the Morning”
- August Burns Red – “Thirty and Seven”
- Becoming The Archetype – “Dichotomy”
- Copeland – “The Grey Man”
- Hawk Nelson – “Let’s Dance (Dojo Dominating Remix)”
- Showbread – “Nothing Matters Anymore”
- MyChildren MyBride – “On The Wings of Integrity”
- Neon Horse – “Strange Town”
- Corey Crowder – “Look How Far We’ve Come”
- Trenches – “Sacrament”
- The Showdown – “[Achilles] The Backbreaker”
- And Then There Were None – “Reinventing Robert Cohn”
- Family Force 5 – “Fever”
- Jonezetta – “Sick In The Teeth”
- Since October – “Guilty”
- The Chariot – “Daggers”
- Underoath – “Desperate Times, Desperate Measures”
- Secret & Whisper – “Anchors (Acoustic)”
If that doesn’t get you pumped up for this, I don’t know what will. Well, besides the fact that the Showbread and Oh, Sleeper songs are brand new, never-before-heard. They aren’t even on MySpace yet. Extremely epic, and a must-have.
Of course, that’s not to say that it’s perfect. The cover art is a little creepy, and the website mentions a song from The Almost, which wasn’t in my .zip file. I won’t be surprised if there’s an update with the song in it soon enough. Even so, those are minor details. Get this, right, now. Seriously. Do it. Now:
-Tooth & Nail/Solid States’s Fuel Sampler-
Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’m totally digging the Children 18:3, FM Static, and Ivoryline right now, great stuff, and I’m not nearly through the sampler yet. What are your favorite songs?
Relevant Update
Did anyone else notice when Relevant Magazine took their free song page down a while back? I was pretty disappointed when I noticed that their epic list of free, legal, live, acoustic, song downloads was missing. Thankfully…
Relevant Magazine recently updated their website, and have put the same great list of downloads up, just on another URL. Same songs, different web page. If you haven’t download these yet, and live, acoustic performances by artists like Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Sara Groves, Pigeon John, and No More Kings sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss this. You can either link up here, or check out my old post for more information in my post about it.

MASSIVE Amount of Free Live, Acoustic Mp3s
Free music today courtesy of Relevant Magazine, and specifically, their podcast. They have approximately 60 (give or take) free songs, all of which were recorded live in their studios. The majority are acoustic, but there are a few “normal” songs, specifically by Pigeon John and The Procussions. I wasn’t sure what a live, semi-acoustic rap would sound like, but it’s really pretty good. As expected, artists like Sara Groves, Phil Wickham, Derek Webb, and Andrew Peterson sound as good unplugged as plugged in.
There are also quite a few new, indie artists on the site as well. A couple to watch out for are Band Marino and No More Kings. And if indie isn’t exactly your favorite thing in the world, there’s plenty of staples like Jars of Clay, Leeland, Dizmas, NEEDTOBREATHE, and David Crowder*Band. Just about something for everyone. Enjoy!
Edit: Relevant has moved their list of free songs to a new page on their site, get the details on that here.

One Dark Summer
Another Tooth & Nail-Solid State Purevolume Sampler! This one is huge. 32+ different song by that many artists. It’s awesome. If you like rock (Thousand Foot Krutch, The Almost, Jonezetta), punk (fm Static, Hawk Nelson, Run Kid Run), and/or hardcore (Underoath, Emery, Destroy the Runner), you have got to check this out! I can guarantee that if you enjoy loud music, you will find something you can listen to on here.
Get all 32+ Songs at Purevolume here now!
Note: You do need to give your email address to get the sampler. It’s worth it.
Update: During a recent upgrade, Purevolume.com removed all of the free samplers from the website. Including this one. So I’m sorry to say it’s no longer available. However, if you looked through the archives here on The Free Christian Music Blog, you could probably find some music that is just as good. I know it’s not the same, but it’s the best I have to offer, so please accept my humble condolences.
Tooth & Nail Tour Digital Sampler – Free Music from Thousand Foot Krutch, Underoath, Anberlin
Tooth & Nail is one of my favorite record labels. And this is why: they understand the power of giving away music. If I took the time to add it up, I am sure I have found 4x as many T&N songs then all other labels combined. And have good stuff to give away too. They are the home to MxPx, Underoath, Anberlin, Emery, Spoken, and Thousand Foot Krutch, just to name a few. And this sampler has quite a few stand-out tracks from their best artists. Here’s the a few of the songs:
- Thousand Foot Krutch – Move
- Starflyer 59 – Good Sons
- Underoath – It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door
- Anberlin – Paperthin Hymn
- Jonezetta – Welcome Home (Demo)
- Emery – Studying Politics
- The Fold – The Title Track
- The Classic Crime – The Fight
- Sullivan – Ten Ways to Impress
- Watashi Wa – All That I Can’t Keep
- And more…
The only downside is you need a Purevolume account. It’s not really that big a deal. You think of a username, they give you a password. I have only ever gotten four emails from them. One for confirmation, one with my user name and password, one because I forgot my password… You get the picture. It’s worth it, okay!
Get it here, here and here, and enjoy.
NOTE: The offer expires June 1st. It doesn’t specify what year, but, just hurry.
Update: Sadly, the sampler has been removed. The good news is there is still tons of other free downloads on the blog.
