Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, word has reached me that Tangle.com is featuring a free Christmas song from Philmont called “It Never Snows In Charlotte” as part of Tangle’s Countdown to Christmas. The Weekly Downloads: Nov. 10 ~ 17
Wow, another week has come and gone – and with it, another nice long list of free song downloads. Actually, I’m quite happy with this week’s selection, especially the Vota download – “Honestly” might honestly be the best song I’ve heard from them. Anyway, let’s get this party started!
First up, an artist I know lots of people will be excited about: Skillet! FreeCCM.com has their song “It’s Not Me It’s You” available now, and it’s aggressive, loud, rocking, & well, it’s Skillet.

Gospel Music Channel actually has two new songs this week (either that, or I’m just a week behind, I’m not sure.) Either way though, you can download the radio edit of Byron Cage’s song “Faithful to Believe” and Claude Deuce’s Christmas song “Every Day Is Christmas” for free.

Speaking of Christmas music, iTicket’s has Kari Jobe’s song “Adore Him” from the Christmas compilation Worship And Adore: A Christmas Offering, plus a free song from Josh Wilson’s new EP, a whimsical love song called “How to Fall”. Both a well worth downloading if you ask me.

As I mentioned earlier, Vota’s song “Honestly” is one of the downloads available this week for free, and it’s my favorite of all the available songs. It’s a slow, piano driven song, it’s just open, and raw, and honest, and beautiful. I highly recommend this one.

Wrapping it up with week, VideoRocket has a free download of KJ-52’s latest, “He Did That”, which happens to feature some of the best breaking dancing I’ve seen in a long time. I wish I could do that…

Anyway, several times I’ve posted in the comments linking to free downloads on Tangle’s website. So today, I thought I might feature them so you won’t have to scavenger hunting for them on blog post comments. Don’t forget, you can also get free weekly downloads on Tangle’s homepage. This week they have Christy Nockel’s title track to her new album, “Life Light Up.” You can also sign-up on their website to recieve a download as well. I believe it is the same as their homepage download, but I am not sure.
Update: Tangle has just taken down “Life Light Up” and replaced it with the song “Hey, Not Worth the Worry” by a new group called COLMANblue. Two of the three members of this group are also from the former pop group ZOEgirl. The download apparently is an exclusive from Tangle, so be sure to download it.
In case you’re wondering, Tangle.com is the new site name for Godtube.com. Now you’re probably asking yourself, ‘why the name change?’ To answer that question, you can watch a video of Tangle CEO Jason Illian explain just the reason why. As well as the video, Tangle is offering yet another free download. I believe it is the song that is playing in the previous video. So be sure you pick that one up as well.
Tangle.com is not only a great family-friendly social networking/video hosting site, but it is also a site that glorifies God. I hope Tangle.com will continue to grow and have a great impact on this world for Jesus Christ our Savior.
Now Hear This! Discover New Music!
That’s right, I think it’s time that we heard and started discovering some good new music. Well, EMI CMG’s new artist promotion has made it possible for us to do just that. At Amazon’s MP3 store, you can get either Now Hear This – Pop or Now Hear This – Rock. The pop sampler includes the artists Sarah Reeves, Josh Wilson, Phillip LaRue, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, and Jason Allen Rich. The rock sampler includes Danyew, Above The Golden State, Philmont, Future of Forestry, Seven Stories Up, and Capital Lights. Several of the songs on Now Hear This were also given as free downloads at tangle.com as well. So if you can’t access an Amazon account, you can search tangle.com and pick some of them up there. Also, Amazon requires you to purchase each sampler as a whole to get it free. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay $0.99 for each song. I don’t know why it is like that, but I’d take both samplers for free rather than buying it song by song. 
As a side note, you can also get your hands on this sampler at your local Christian bookstore with a purchase an album by any of the featured artists.

While you’re on Amazon, you can also pick yet another Christian music sample. Yes, you heard me right. This time, the sampler is from the Word Label Group. You might have seen the new 6 Picks: Essential Radio Essentials from artists such as, Stellar Kart, Big Daddy Weave, or Sixpence None the Richer. Each 6 Picks EP is compromised of the six best songs from each respective artist. It’s sort of like a ‘best of’ album, just that it’s an EP. Anyway, you can get the 6 Picks Radio Hits Sampler for free at Amazon. This sampler includes Big Daddy Weave, Building 429, Barlowgirl, Rachael Lampa, Sixpence None The Richer, and Jaci Velasquez.

Jsoh Wilson has been doing an advent calender on his website for the month of December, and has been sharing something cool everyday. For example, discounts on store items, YouTube videos with behind-the-song information, pictures of Josh as a kid, and the recipe for his Mom’s Caramel Nut Biscuit Ring.

For the first time ever, I’m going to do a Song Combat with two different version of the same song. I’m going to pit Pocket Full of Rocks version of “Angels We Have Heard On High” against Josh Wilson’s version of the same some, let you vote on which artist’d rather see featured on The Free Christian Music Blog.
Josh Wilson is a contemporary Christian artist who had a strong debut this year. I would compare him stylistically to Matthew West and Steven Curtis Chapman. Also, his debut album, Trying to Fit the Ocean In A Cup, was awarded pop album of the year by Gospel Music Channel. There’s a good selection of his songs you can listen to on his MySpace.
On the other hand, Pocket Full of Rocks have been around for 13 years, the last three of which they spent on Word/Myrrh Records. They’re definitely a praise & worship band, similar to Casting Crowns, or Philips, Craig, and Dean. For a sample of their music, check out this YouTube video.
Oh, and in case your wondering “what on earth is this Song Combat thing?”, here’s a slightly modify description of it I borrowed from the very first one:
“In this battle-royal, you decide the winner. At the end of 72 hours, which ever song get the most votes in the poll on the right, wins. The winning song will receive the honor of being featured as a download here. The loser, alas, will be buried deep in my bookmarks, until I decide to let it see light of day once more. Free Songs from Disciple, Matthew West, and Josh Wilson
Free music today from a couple of talented artists, Disciple, Matthew West, and Josh Wilson. Now Disciple is one of the best Christian heavy rock groups in existance. They are pretty much amazing. You can snag a free copy of their balled-ish song “After the World”. It was (to my knowledge) the band’s first slower hit, and got heavy rotation on many Christian radio stations who don’t normally play Disciple. Honestly, I don’t like this song as well as Disciple’s louder stuff, but, it’s free, so I can’t really complain. Grab the song for free from TotalAxxess. (Limited time deal, so move fast!)
Also with some new, free music, iTicket’s has got several new songs from Matthew West and Josh Wilson. Sadly, I haven’t had a chance to give the songs a listen yet, so I can’t really review them – you’ll just have to go and get them yourself.
Free Music from Josh Wilson and Esterlyn
iTicket’s has some new free music this week from Josh Wilson and Esterlyn. Josh Wilson is a pop-rock artist on Sparrow Records. You can get his song and latest single “3 Minute Song” for free.
The bonus download this week is Esterlyn’s “Kill Your Own Despair”. As you may know, it’s one of the “Required Listening” songs here at The Free Chrisitan Music Blog. However, since the song was on MySpace, you had to be on MySpace to get it. For this week only, you can get it on iTickets. So do it. It’s a excellent softer rock song.
New HearItFirst Downloads
A while back I mentioned a sampler from HearItFirst.com which was featuring artists from the Winter Jam Tour. Now they’ve changed the line up, and updated it with new songs. The new version has songs from Britt Nicole, Todd Agnew, Neworldson, Josh Wilson, Shawn McDonald. Some of the songs are new, other aren’t. Still, it’s worth checking out.
