Phil Wickham

The Weekly Downloads: Nov. 17 ~ Nov. 23

It’s that time again!  Admittedly, this isn’t turning out to be the best week ever for free music, but there’s still quite a bit of music free, especially if you like Phil Wickham’s new song “Coming Alive”.  You’ll see what I mean by that in a bit… :)

First up this week, iTickets’ has two free songs from Desperation Band (“Light Up The World”) and Jennifer Shaw (“God Loved The World”).

-iTickets’ Free Music Page-

Gospel Music Channel, unfortunately, doesn’t have any free music this week, but they do have a stream of “Again” and “Beautiful Bride” from Flyleaf’s new album Memento Mori.  I have to say, both songs are extremely good – one review I read compared “Beautiful Bride” to DC Talk’s universally popular “Jesus Freak”.  That’s extremely high praise in the Christmas music world.  Definitely worth a listen or two, or more.

Remember how I mentioned Phil Wickham’s new song “Coming Alive” earlier?  Well, there’s a good reason:  FreeCCM, Tangle, and New Release Tuesday all have that song for free this week.  Pick your favorite site, and download away!

Even though it’s not music, or a music video, Video Rocket does have an interesting free video this week – it’s the the trailer for Sarah’s Choice, the new pro-life movie starring Rebecca St. James.  Has anyone seen the movie yet?  Is it good?

Well, that’s everything that’s available this week – not a lot, but still.  Stay tuned, since next week, they’ll be a totally different batch of downloads.  Till then…

Free Songs from Phillips, Craig and Dean

Phillips, Craig, and DeanToday I’ve got a couple of free songs from the long time CCM trio, Phillips, Craig and Dean.  These three full-time pastors have been singing together since 1991 and are still releasing new albums, which is a thought that blows my mind.  Anyway, you might have heard their latest single, “Revelation Song.”  In fact, I believe it is currently the #1 played song across the nation on Christian radio.  Sadly, this is not the song that is available for a free download.

However, you can get three other great songs from this worship trio.  Two from their recently released “Fearless” album and one from their previous album “Top of My Lungs.”   The three songs are from three different sites, Tangle.com, GospelMusicChannel.com, and FreeCCM.com. Be sure you pick each of them up!

-“Spirit of God” on GospelMusicChannel.com-

-“Nothing To Prove” on Tangle.com-

-“Your Name” on FreeCCM.com-

Also, while you’re at FreeCCM, be sure you pick up free songs from Phil Wickham, Todd Agnew, and Bart Millard.

Relevant Update

Tenth Avenue NorthDid anyone else notice when Relevant Magazine took their free song page down a while back?  I was pretty disappointed when I noticed that their epic list of free, legal, live, acoustic, song downloads was missing.  Thankfully…

Relevant Magazine recently updated their website, and have put the same great list of downloads up, just on another URL.  Same songs, different web page.  If you haven’t download these yet, and live, acoustic performances by artists like Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Sara Groves, Pigeon John, and No More Kings sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss this.  You can either link up here, or check out my old post for more information in my post about it.

Music, News, Music, News

It’s a rainy, dull day at my place today, so I’m going to take the time to get caught up with some site announcements, music news, and of course, some free music.

freeccm_150banner1.gif

To kick it off, FreeCCM.com has added quite a few new songs to their site, including cuts from Building 429, Phil Wickham, Sara Groves, 33 Miles, Caedmon’s Call, Chris Rice, and a sweet rockin’ song from Disciple’s latest CD called “Whisper So Loud”.  FreeCCM has been updating a lot lately, so it might be a good idea to get these songs soon.

-FreeCCM.com-

It looks like the next couple of months are going to be busy ones for me, and since James isn’t going to be available to back me up, posting may be a bit sporadic.  I hope not, but if I’m not available, I thought you should know.

That brings me to the second order of business.  I would love to bring in a few more writers to help keep the site current.  That would make my life a lot easier and give me more time to find more free music, reply to emails, improve the site, etc.  If you like Christian music, like writing, and have a lot of free time, and might be interested, I’d appreciate it if you’d pray about it, and if God says yes, send me an email.  My address is on the Contact page.

Now, how about some more music.  iTicket’s has got an unprecented FOUR free songs this week, from Mandisa, House of Heroes, Veggie Tales, and Brad & Rebekah Bichsel.  I’ve only heard the House of Heroes song before (it’s “In The Valley of the Dying Sun” again), so I suggest you go and form your own opinions.

-iTicket’s Free Music Page-

Now, let me see, what else has been happening in the music world.  Aha, yes!  The website VideoRocket is giving away the incredible music video from House of Heroes, “In The Valley of the Dying Sun”.  VideoRocket is somehow affiliated with iTickets, hence the same song both places. The video is in QuickTime format, at fair quality.  Check it out!

RadioU.com
Moving right along, I was checking RadioU‘s Insider earlier this week and was amazed to see that they had linked to my post on the Fuel Magazine Tooth & Nail sampler.  I was so totally blown away at the time I had trouble speaking.  RadioU has been my favorite radio station for the last couple years, so it’s a huge honor to linked by them.  Not only do they play amazing music, they also keep the focus on God, and on Christ.  I really respect that, so I think it’s pretty sweet that they read TFCMB.

Anyway, I think that’s about it…

Matt is Moving! (Plus Free Music from Ino Records)

Epic good news for me this week!  After a very, very long wait, I’m finally going to be moving this week to a much nicer house.  While that means lots of packing and hauling for me, it also means that I may not be able to post for a while.  I’m still hoping to get a few posts in this week, but it looks like I may be on a short intermission.  Don’t worry, I will hopefully be back by next week.  That out of the way, let’s get to the music!

FreeCCM.com has just added three new songs from Building 429, The Afters, and Phil Wickham.  Building 429′s song, “Coming Home” is from the group’s brand new CD Building 429 starts off, while Mr. Wickham’s “Beautiful”, from Cannons follows, after which a surprising pick from The Afters round out this month’s selection.  It’s a bit unusual that Ino Records choose to feature “Someday”, from the band’s first CD, over something more recent (I.E. from Never Going Back to Okay).  Even so, the song is great.  I highly recommend it.  Enjoy!

MASSIVE Amount of Free Live, Acoustic Mp3s

Free music today courtesy of Relevant Magazine, and specifically, their podcast.  They have approximately 60 (give or take) free songs, all of which were recorded live in their studios.  The majority are acoustic, but there are a few “normal” songs, specifically by Pigeon John and The Procussions. I wasn’t sure what a live, semi-acoustic rap would sound like, but it’s really pretty good.  As expected, artists like Sara Groves, Phil Wickham, Derek Webb, and Andrew Peterson sound as good unplugged as plugged in.

There are also quite a few new, indie artists on the site as well.  A couple to watch out for are Band Marino and No More Kings.  And if indie isn’t exactly your favorite thing in the world, there’s plenty of staples like Jars of Clay, Leeland, Dizmas, NEEDTOBREATHE, and David Crowder*Band.  Just about something for everyone.  Enjoy!  :)

-Relevant Podcast-

Edit:  Relevant has moved their list of free songs to a new page on their site, get the details on that here.

FreeCCM.com Updated

Phil Wickham CannonsI’ll keep this short and sweet because I’m pretty tired.

FreeCCM.com has updated is selection of free music. It’s currently got new songs from Phil Wickham (“Shining”), Chris Rice (“How Great Thou Art”), and Derek Webb (“I Wanna Marry You All Over Again”). I haven’t had a chance to listen to the songs yet, but I’m guessing they are pretty cool. If you aren’t familiar with FreeCCM, it’s the “official” source of free music from INO and SRE Records.

MyFreeMusicFriday.com…

MyFreeMusicFriday.com is feature four artists today. For today (friday) and today only you can download a song from Britt Nicole, Phil Wickham, Jeremy Casella, and Steven Curtis Chapman. It is worth noting that the Phil Wickham song is the same one that FreeCCM.com had trouble with, so it’s probably a good idea to go ahead and get it now. Steven Curtis Chapman need no introduction. Britt Nicole is a new artist who is actually pretty cool. Something like Rebecca St. James/Natalie Grant/Krystal Meyers. Then their Jeremy Casella, who I have to admit I’ve never heard of before, but really like. You’ll have to listen to his music.
-Get all four songs at Myfreemusicfriday.com right now-

Enjoy!

Disciple and Phil Wickham Downloads

I have two songs today from Phil Wickham and Disciple. Alphabetically, “D” comes before “P”, so we’ll start with Disciple:

You know, the thing I like best about Disciple is how they are ministry centered.   While most bands make music for a career, Disciple does it as an outreach.  On their old CDs, each CD two disks, one full CD and one audio tract with a couple of the best songs, and the gospel message at the end.  Really cool.

Anyway, they have a song called “Back Again” on Download.com.  It’s from the CD Back Again.  It’s a heavy song, about not going back to sin.  Note: I have to warn you, this is not “After the World”.  This is more along the lines of “Regime Change”, “Scars Remain”, or “The Wait is Over”.  Consider yourself warned.

Now for Mr. Wickham. FreeCCM.com is featuring “Cannons” from his new album Cannons. However, there is a problem. I can’t get the download to work for me. The dread “file not found” error. I don’t know if it’s just me, or if they are missing the mp3. Anyway, you can still download the chord charts.

-Download Disciple “Back Again” at Download.com-
-Download Phil Wickham “Cannons” at FreeCCM.com-
