Jesus Freak Hideout Free Music Update
Free music today from Jesus Freak Hideout, one of my favorite Christian music websites. JFH has a rather impressive list of free and legal song downloads. I haven’t covered the page in a while, and I figured it was time for an update, especially since they’ve got so much new music added. For example, Phil Joel’s Christmas song “Nativity”, hip-hopper JustMe’s song “How I Met Your Mother”, Fiction Family’s “When She’s Near”, All Star United’s rock/pop jam “Surface of the Sun”, and two from Eleventyseven, the rockin’ “Nightmare” and crazy and exclusive “Cody’s Song”.
There’s actually quite a story behind “Cody’s Song” – it’s from a contest sponsored by Eleventyseven and run by Jesus Freak Hideout. Entrants gave a list of 10 or so facts about them, and then Eleventyseven used those facts to write a song about the winner, who happened to be named Cody. The result is downright zany pop/hip-hop style theme song like no other.
Besides that, there’s also several older songs still available, namely Jars of Clay’s “Closer”, Lanae’ Hale’s “Love Is Worth The Fight”, Sixpence None The Richer’s “Angels We Have Heard on High”, and Sara Groves’ “O Holy Night”. Good stuff all around, at least if you ask me. Enjoy!
The Weekly Downloads: Nov. 10 ~ 17
Wow, another week has come and gone – and with it, another nice long list of free song downloads. Actually, I’m quite happy with this week’s selection, especially the Vota download – “Honestly” might honestly be the best song I’ve heard from them. Anyway, let’s get this party started!
First up, an artist I know lots of people will be excited about: Skillet! FreeCCM.com has their song “It’s Not Me It’s You” available now, and it’s aggressive, loud, rocking, & well, it’s Skillet.

Gospel Music Channel actually has two new songs this week (either that, or I’m just a week behind, I’m not sure.) Either way though, you can download the radio edit of Byron Cage’s song “Faithful to Believe” and Claude Deuce’s Christmas song “Every Day Is Christmas” for free.

-Claude Deuce & “Everyday Is Christmas”-
Speaking of Christmas music, iTicket’s has Kari Jobe’s song “Adore Him” from the Christmas compilation Worship And Adore: A Christmas Offering, plus a free song from Josh Wilson’s new EP, a whimsical love song called “How to Fall”. Both a well worth downloading if you ask me.

If you don’t have Sara Groves’ new song “Different Kinds of Happy” yet, you’ve got another chance to download it this week from New Release Tuesday. I don’t know about you, but I really like the artwork for Sara’s new album, somehow, it fits.

As I mentioned earlier, Vota’s song “Honestly” is one of the downloads available this week for free, and it’s my favorite of all the available songs. It’s a slow, piano driven song, it’s just open, and raw, and honest, and beautiful. I highly recommend this one.

Wrapping it up with week, VideoRocket has a free download of KJ-52′s latest, “He Did That”, which happens to feature some of the best breaking dancing I’ve seen in a long time. I wish I could do that…
The Weekly Downloads: Oct. 27 ~ Nov. 2
iTickets has two free songs this week, from David & Nicole Binion and their song “Overshadow Me / Christ In Me” and Jared Anderson’s version of “How He Loves” (a classic worship song most recently popularized by David Crowder*Band). Speaking of “How He Loves”, you can also grab the live video for that song for free from VideoRocket.com. Check it out!

Also up for grabs until the midnight, a new song from Paul Baloche called “Glorious”. It’s the title track from Paul’s new CD, and you can snag it from New Release Tuesday for free:

It seems to be the week for brand new tunes, since both Tangle.com and Gospel Music Channel are featuring downloads from Sara Groves (her new song “Different Kinds of Happy”) and RiZen, with “Free”, respectively. Enjoy!

That wraps it up for this week, look for more music, coming soon!
Relevant Update
Did anyone else notice when Relevant Magazine took their free song page down a while back? I was pretty disappointed when I noticed that their epic list of free, legal, live, acoustic, song downloads was missing. Thankfully…
Relevant Magazine recently updated their website, and have put the same great list of downloads up, just on another URL. Same songs, different web page. If you haven’t download these yet, and live, acoustic performances by artists like Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Sara Groves, Pigeon John, and No More Kings sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss this. You can either link up here, or check out my old post for more information in my post about it.

Music, News, Music, News
It’s a rainy, dull day at my place today, so I’m going to take the time to get caught up with some site announcements, music news, and of course, some free music.
To kick it off, FreeCCM.com has added quite a few new songs to their site, including cuts from Building 429, Phil Wickham, Sara Groves, 33 Miles, Caedmon’s Call, Chris Rice, and a sweet rockin’ song from Disciple’s latest CD called “Whisper So Loud”. FreeCCM has been updating a lot lately, so it might be a good idea to get these songs soon.
It looks like the next couple of months are going to be busy ones for me, and since James isn’t going to be available to back me up, posting may be a bit sporadic. I hope not, but if I’m not available, I thought you should know.
That brings me to the second order of business. I would love to bring in a few more writers to help keep the site current. That would make my life a lot easier and give me more time to find more free music, reply to emails, improve the site, etc. If you like Christian music, like writing, and have a lot of free time, and might be interested, I’d appreciate it if you’d pray about it, and if God says yes, send me an email. My address is on the Contact page.
Now, how about some more music. iTicket’s has got an unprecented FOUR free songs this week, from Mandisa, House of Heroes, Veggie Tales, and Brad & Rebekah Bichsel. I’ve only heard the House of Heroes song before (it’s “In The Valley of the Dying Sun” again), so I suggest you go and form your own opinions.
Now, let me see, what else has been happening in the music world. Aha, yes! The website VideoRocket is giving away the incredible music video from House of Heroes, “In The Valley of the Dying Sun”. VideoRocket is somehow affiliated with iTickets, hence the same song both places. The video is in QuickTime format, at fair quality. Check it out!

Moving right along, I was checking RadioU‘s Insider earlier this week and was amazed to see that they had linked to my post on the Fuel Magazine Tooth & Nail sampler. I was so totally blown away at the time I had trouble speaking. RadioU has been my favorite radio station for the last couple years, so it’s a huge honor to linked by them. Not only do they play amazing music, they also keep the focus on God, and on Christ. I really respect that, so I think it’s pretty sweet that they read TFCMB.
Anyway, I think that’s about it…
Free Music from Sara Groves & Freddy Rodriguez
iTicket’s has just added two new free songs for the week, “I Will Run” by Freddy Rodriguez, and “It Might Be Hope” by Sara Groves. I haven’t had a chance to listen yet, so I’ll keep this short. I will say, however that you might want to keep your eyes open. There may be some very exciting downloads coming in the near future…
Christmas Series: Day 12 – A Bit Of Everything
It’s Christmas Eve, and thanks to many reader suggestions, I have more then enough songs to finish up this year’s Christmas series. In fact, I’ve got so many left, this post is going to be predominately composed of links. This post is going to be a bit of a endurance event, so make sure you’ve got a while to dedicate to downloading. I kid you not, there is a TON of music to come. Brace yourself. Oh, yeah, and merry Christmas!
Let’s kick it off with Shane & Shane. They’ve got their song “Away in A Manger” available from Today’s Christian Woman. Actually, Mandisa, Sara Groves, and Casting Crowns all have songs on that site too.
Alli Rogers has a brand new Christmas EP up on NoiseTrade. It’s called The Silent Stars EP, and you can pay want you want for it, or get it for free by sharing it with 5 friends. Also on NoiseTrade is the Christmas edition of The Silent’s CD Unseen, featuring their version of “We Three Kings”. To top those two, you can also get a free compilation featuring songs from the Love Came Down A Christmas Time Tour. The sampler has songs from all 4 artists on the tour, Jars of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Sara Groves, and Leeland. Very cool. Check it here.
If that’s still not enough music for you, GodTube has got free Christmas songs from Travis Ryan, Rachel Scott, and Sara Groves, plus some other goodies. Then there’s two free songs from High Valley on the Centricity Record’s website. Leigh Nash has a free Christmas song on Download.com, Theocracy has a wild Christmas song called “Rudolph vs. Frosty” up on their website, and then there’s The Staple Singers, who have “No Room at the Inn” up on Download.com.
Sixpence None the Richer, Sara Groves, and DecembeRadio all have Christmas songs available for free on JesusFreakHideout.com, iTicket’s has a Christmas download from Gabriela Hindy, plus two other songs from Abandon and Mission Six. Asthmatic Kitty Records has two free Sufjan Stevens Christmas songs available too.
Amazon.com has got numerous free songs from the likes of Sixpence None the Richer, Leigh Nash, Jars of Clay, Mannheim Steamroller, Big Daddy Weave, Jim Brickman, David Phelps, and BarlowGirl.
BarlowGirl, Jars of Clay, Chris Sligh, and Casting Crowns all have free mp3s available on CCM Magazine’s website.
I think Don Francisco wins the award for the most songs available. 21 on his website!
Even though it’s not a download, The Advantage has added a cool Christmas song to their MySpace profile. It’s called “Retail Christmas”, and it’s actually quite good. Here’s hoping they do a free download of it soon.
Brian Bate’s has an interesting free download. It works on a honor system – something you sadly don’t see much of any more. Anyway, the song is “Mary Christmas” and it’s available on his website.
Willet’s website, after being down for weeks, is finally up and running again with a free original Christmas song by the band. It’s called “The Nativity”, and looks pretty good.
Speaking of independent rock, the group The Violet Burning has got a full Christmas CD for free this year. It’s called Divine, and you can check that out on their website.
And, to close, Sleeping At Last has three Christmas downloads up on their Virb profile, plus one live song and another normal track.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Christmas Series: Day 9 – Sara Groves, MercyMe, Sandi Patty
Christmas is only 5 days away (exciting isn’t it?) and I noticed I’m a couple of days behind on the Christmas series. The problem was, I forgot that I don’t post on Sunday when I was figuring out my timings, leaving me with two extra days. The only way I could think of to remedy the problem was to double post, so I hope no one will mind if I post twice as much free Christmas music as normal.
.
FreeCCM.com, the official free music website of Ino Records, has got some nice free mp3s this month. The big one they’re promoting is Sara Grove’s “Toy Packaging”, a soft melodic song about how frustrating it is to get toys out of the packaging. It’s quite lighthearted (there are some pretty funny sound effects later in the song), and all around good.
.

The other two songs are MercyMe’s “Joseph’s Lullabye”, a Christmas song written from Joseph’s perspective, and Sandi Patty’s “O Holy Night”. Enjoy!
Free Christmas Music from BarlowGirl, Casting Crowns, and More!
Would someone tell CCM Magazine that’s still October?
It seems like they are putting out Christmas downloads already, with some great free-and-festive songs from Casting Crowns, BarlowGirl, Sixpence None The Richer, Sara Groves, the Annie Moses Band, and Shane & Shane.
The names of the groups should speek for them selves, and as I look at the site, it looks like the downloads are only going to be there for a week, so I’ll stop typing and let you go and check them out yourselves. Oh, and merry Christmas!
MASSIVE Amount of Free Live, Acoustic Mp3s
Free music today courtesy of Relevant Magazine, and specifically, their podcast. They have approximately 60 (give or take) free songs, all of which were recorded live in their studios. The majority are acoustic, but there are a few “normal” songs, specifically by Pigeon John and The Procussions. I wasn’t sure what a live, semi-acoustic rap would sound like, but it’s really pretty good. As expected, artists like Sara Groves, Phil Wickham, Derek Webb, and Andrew Peterson sound as good unplugged as plugged in.
There are also quite a few new, indie artists on the site as well. A couple to watch out for are Band Marino and No More Kings. And if indie isn’t exactly your favorite thing in the world, there’s plenty of staples like Jars of Clay, Leeland, Dizmas, NEEDTOBREATHE, and David Crowder*Band. Just about something for everyone. Enjoy!
Edit: Relevant has moved their list of free songs to a new page on their site, get the details on that here.
