Songs To Slay the Dragons To

Songs to Slay Dragons To

So, I’m thinking Indie Vision Music’s latest sampler probably has the best name of anything they’ve ever released, bar none.  Yeah, I’m talking about Songs to Slay the Dragons To.  If that title alone doesn’t clue you in, the dragon skull on the cover should.  This is a all-hardcore sampler.  It’s heavy.  To use a common metal colloquialism, it’s “total brutal”.  ;)

Like everything IVM has done, you can download the whole thing for free at their website, where you can also check out the tracklisting.  I’m not familiar with most of the bands, but anything with See the Light and Blessed Is He has got to be good.  Plus, there’s two bands on their from Come & Live! ( a new ministry/record label started by Chad Johnson, formerly of Tooth & Nail) that I really can’t wait to hear.  All around, it looks to be an excellent source of some free Christian hardcore.  Check it out!

For the sake of full disclosure, I should probably admit that no, I haven’t had a chance to listen to this yet.  I’d like to, but I haven’t had a chance.  That means it’s up to you to discover this for yourself.  A word of warning though, you might want to secure the furiture and brace yourself, just in case.  :)

“You’d Better Get Used To This Sore Throat”

Free music today from Christian hardcore band See the Light.  I’m pretty sure they are from California.

Now the thing about See the Light is, they are, well, different.  In a very good way.  I listen to a lot of hardcore (in fact, I’m watching Gospel Music Channel’s Metalhead as I type), and I’m quite sure there’s no artist quite like See the Light out there, at least as far a Christian music goes.  The best way to describe them would be to take The Devil Wears Prada, throw in some classical piano and have the result play praise & worship music.  Unique is probably the best word to describe them.

Now, to get to the download.  The band has got “You’d Better Get Used to This Sore Throat” up on their MySpace page as a free download.  Since MySpace’s download system isn’t working at present, the guys have a link to MegaUpload, where you can download the track.  The song itself is kind of a diamond in the rough, good, but not very polished.

Personally, I think they have huge potential, and could be really amazing with some better productional.  Even right now, I really like the track, first, because the focus is on God, and two, because piano and brutal music just go seem to go together for me.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy these guys as much as I do.

(Source: Indie Vision Music)

There you have it, all 62 songs.  That should pretty much speak for itself.  It looks like hardcore/metal songs form the backbone of the sampler, but there’s enough “normal” music to make it worth while even if screaming isn’t your thing.

Now, there is one small problem.  Like I said, Another Way To Fight Vol. 1 was created by a French website.  So, the site is in French.  Thankfully, thanks to Google’s handy Translator, the rest of us can read it too.  Enjoy!
