The Afters
The Weekly Downloads: Nov. 3 ~ Nov. 9
Anther week, another batch of downloads – some really good ones too!
Without a doubt, the biggest free download this week is from Steven Curtis Chapman. You can download his latest single, “Heaven Is the Face”, from Tangle.com. It’s an amazing, beautiful song, enough said. Don’t miss it.
Though it can’t top “Heaven Is The Face”, iTickets does have two good song available for free this week, Paul Baloche’s song “Glorious” and Kelly Clinger’s song “What You See In Me”.
Next up, if you like your music a little louder, VideoRocket has the debut music video for new Tooth & Nail band The Letter Black. It’s for the song “Hanging By A Thread”, and it’s pretty cool. Check it out!

It’s hard to believe Christmas is coming up so fast, but it is, and Gospel Music Channel has the Christmas music to prove it – specifically, Ayiesha Woods’ version of “Jingle Bells”. As it turns out, Ayiesha actually has whole Christmas album coming out, called Christmas Like This, a play off her last album’s title, Love Like This.
Here’s something new: FreeCCM.com has totally updated their website! It’s now a blog-type format, with new downloads every week. They’ve got three weeks worth of downloads up right now, with songs from Todd Agnew, Fee, and The Afters – some pretty cool stuff. You do need to sign up for the website again, even if you were signed up previously.

Last, but definitely not least this week, New Release Tuesday has a new song by Plumb. It’s called “Hold On”, and it’s one of the new tracks from Plumb’s latest greatest hits collection, entitled Beautiful History. I’m pretty excited about Beautiful History myself, primarily because it has two disks, the second of which is full of remixes. Very cool stuff indeed!
Brand New Free Song from Everyday Sunday
June 16 will be the best night of your life. Well, it might be. I don’t know for sure. However, I do know that June 16 is the day that Everyday Sunday’s brand new CD, Best Night of Our Lives, hits stores.
Of course, the above information is all well and good, but this blog is about free Christian music. Lucky, the band decided to be generous, and is giving away the title track and first single, “Best Night of Our Lives”. It’s a great punk/rock song in true Everyday Sunday style. I should warn you though, it has the potential to get stuck in your head for hours. Even days.
But, if you think the benefit risk is worth the risk, you can download the song for free from the link below. Just type in your email address, and you’ll get an email with a link to download the song within seconds. Enjoy!

Speaking of Everyday Sunday, Soul Glow Activator of Family Force 5 is to do a dance remix “Best Night of Our Lives”. It’s all in their MySpace blog. It’s going to be great. I, for one, can’t wait to hear it. Hmm, I wonder if it’ll be anything like The After’s dance remix of “Never Going Back to OK”…
Matt is Moving! (Plus Free Music from Ino Records)
Epic good news for me this week! After a very, very long wait, I’m finally going to be moving this week to a much nicer house. While that means lots of packing and hauling for me, it also means that I may not be able to post for a while. I’m still hoping to get a few posts in this week, but it looks like I may be on a short intermission. Don’t worry, I will hopefully be back by next week. That out of the way, let’s get to the music!
FreeCCM.com has just added three new songs from Building 429, The Afters, and Phil Wickham. Building 429’s song, “Coming Home” is from the group’s brand new CD Building 429 starts off, while Mr. Wickham’s “Beautiful”, from Cannons follows, after which a surprising pick from The Afters round out this month’s selection. It’s a bit unusual that Ino Records choose to feature “Someday”, from the band’s first CD, over something more recent (I.E. from Never Going Back to Okay). Even so, the song is great. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

Free Song by The Afters

Free music today from a little band called The Afters. You can grab a free copy of their song “Keeping Me Alive” for free from the 20 The Countdown Magazine website. It’s a soft song, more praise and worship then rock. As usual, it’s a solid song from the band, with good lyrics and great musicianship.
The download is a bit hard to find, sadly. You need to look in the sidebar, a little over half way down the page. Click on the square top banner, the one that says free download. Viola, just wait for the download to finish and enjoy!
Now for some even better news: It looks like 20TheCountdownMagazine.com is going to start doing weekly downloads. If they do, you can be sure I’ll do my best to announce them here whenever there’s a new song.
Free Sampler from Creation Fest!
Not two days since I posted about the last free music from Creation Festival, the catchy song “Captives Come Home” by Run Kid Run, Creation has officially topped themselves 10 times over. As in a 10 song free sampler featuring Run Kid Run, Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, Fireflight, Dizmas, The Afters, Leeland, Mike Farris, and more. There are at least 3, if not 4 or 5, number one hits inside this sampler. Totally, absolutely sweet.
These aren’t no-name songs either. “Unbreakable”, by Fireflight, “Falls Apart” by Thousand Foot Krutch, “For The Love of The Game”, Pillar. Seriously cool stuff.
I could probably wax eloquent about how incredible it is all night, but I really need to get to bed. So just get it and enjoy it.
5 Sites: If You’re Not Signed-Up, You’re Missing Out
Over the years I’ve come across quite a few good sites with free and legal Christian music, but occasionally, I’ve found some great sites. Sites you have to join access. And it’s worth it. This is a list of my favorite members-only free music sites.
(It will probable be changed from time to time, so be sure to bookmark this page!)
5. MySpace.com – Despite user security issues, if you want to access the music stored on MySpace, you’ll need an account. Personally, I have a “junk” account that I use to download songs. Just make sure to talk to your parents about it.
4. FreeCCM.com – The only record label-run site to update it’s selection occasionally. Right now, it has music from The Afters, Addison Road, Laura Story. Previously it’s had Skillet, Disciple, MercyMe, and more. Definitely a site to watch.
3. iTickets – Since MyFreeMusicFriday is pretty much dead, I’ve decided to replace them with new comers iTickets. They are giving away one song a week to all iTickets members. Sign-up is a pain, but after that it’s easy to get the music, lyrics, and concert info.
2. The Free Christian Music Blog – Umm, this is a bit awkward, but even if I didn’t run it, I would still recommend it. I usually post once daily, with any style of music possible. Sign-up box is on the right at the top of the page.
1. HearItFirst.com – One of the oldest and best site for Christian music. You have got to sign-up for the mailing list. Once a week they’ll send you a free song to your inbox. I just got Sanctus Real’s “We Need Each Other” free, just for being a member. Admittedly, the website is confusing, but in this case the pros (music) out weight the cons (annoyances).
Mp3s From The Afters, Laura Story, and Addison Road!
FreeCCM.com, the free music website run by INO Records, just added new music this past week. It now has brand new songs from The Afters, Addison Road, Laura Story.
The songs are “Forty-Two” for the Afters, from the CD Never Going Back to OK, “It Just Takes One” for Addison Road, from their self titled, and last but not least the title track from Laura Story’s Bless the Lord. I’d also like to call attention to the fact that none of the three songs are available anywhere else right now. Go get em’!
Free Music and Game from The Afters
You may know that the Afters have a new CD coming out called “Never Going Back to OK”. What you may not know is that to celebrate the new CD, they have promised free music “and other great stuff” to everyone who signs up for their mailing list. There’s no word yet what songs will be given away, or when the the songs will be sent out. Definitely something to sign up for.
11 Bands to Watch for in 2008
11. Stellar Kart. If we really can Expect the Impossible, it must be pretty cool.
10. Inhabited. Their new album Love has been getting good reviews already, and looks to be an great CD.
9. Inhale Exhale. After a great debut, their sophomore disk looks to be great as well.
8. Pillar. With the apparent return to their older style, For the Love of the Game looks to be a worth squeal continuation to the Pillar legacy.
7. Hawk Nelson. If past awesome-ness is a sign of future awesome-ness, they are in great shape.
6. The Afters. After, what, three years, the band return with their second album, which looks to be as good or better then then I Wish We All Could Win.
5. P.O.D. (Payable on Death). Overlooking there new CD, When Angels and Serpents Dance, would be a serious mistake.
4. Showbread. Is a so crazy. They are releasing two different CDs on the same day. Who know what will happen? For sheer unpredictability, you need to keep an eye on them.
3. Kutless. With a new CD supposedly on the way, the massively popular band will definitely be one to watch for.
2. Underoath. The hardcore phenomenon. The mere fact that they are doing a new CD has music fans around the world in desperate anticipation.
1. Family Force 5. In two years, they went from unknowns to one of the hottest bands in Christian music. With a new, untitled CD on the way, the dance party that is FF5 will likely continue to spread.
Honorably Mentions:
A Rotterdam November. Despite being unsigned and unknown, they landed a hit with “City Without a Heart” and look to be a promising band.
Fireflight. Looks Unbreakable.
Leeland. Blindside. Switchfoot. Anberlin. John Reuben. Krystal Meyers. Deserved to fit in the top 11, only I ran out of room.
