Summer Slam Volume 3

Remember Indie Vision Music? You know, that site that has brought you songs from artists like MXPX, Project 86, Cool Hand Luke, Chasing Victory, Ever Stays Red, Esterlyn (a lot from them actually), The Glorious Unseen, Forever Changed, Brave Saint Saturn, Stavesacre, and Deepspace 5, not to mention hundreds of great songs from lesser know and up and coming bands?

Well, if you have forgotten, this should serve as a reminder. Indie Vision Music has recently come out with Summer Slam Vol. 3, its newest in a very long line of compilations. In it are 56 free songs, conveniently divided into three discs. While this one doesn’t include any of the big names groups listed above (the biggest on the list is probably Gotee artist I Am Terrified), it does include alot of great groups, including songs from bands like Sleeping Giant, Hands, and Impending Doom on the heavy sampler and songs from groups like All Star United, Sleep For Sleepers, and Ocean Is Theory on the rock discs.

Even if you don’t end up liking most of the songs, the odds are that you will find a new band that you really like. And anyway, its 56 free songs, so I probably don’t need to spend this much time trying to convince you.

P.S. I know that some of those bands that I listed in the first paragraph aren’t as big as they used to be (some are broken up), so some of you may not recognize them, but they are all quality groups. If you haven’t heard of them, go check them out.

New Sampler from Indie Vision Music

Indie Vision Music has put out many, many samplers recently, and though many of them are no longer posted online, they have taken the best songs from the seven samplers (sans the heavy stuff, which might be getting its own “best of” sampler) and put them into one. What you get is free songs from Chasing Victory, Project 86, Stavesacre, Ever Stays Red, Esterlyn, and 35 other awesome bands.

I haven’t been able to listen to everything yet, as I have not only been busy but also overwhelmed with this and another even bigger sampler that all of you will probably see in the near future. You might get spoiled this week, thats all I’m saying.

Edit:  Apparently the wonderful people at IVM are working on another compilation that they hope to put out in time for Christmas.  If you’re in a band and have a quality recording they are interested in possibly using your song in the compilation.

Free music today from The Echoing Green. The Christian electronic group has two free songs on their MySpace profile, “Blind”, and “Seaside”. I’ve listen to “Blind” a lot, and it’s good stuff. You’ll want to check them out if you’re a fan of Joy Electric or Code of Ethics.

Summer Slam Vol. 2 Free Sampler from IVM

Free music today courtesy of Indie Vision Music. They recently uploaded Summer Slam Vol. 2, the biggest free Christian music sampler since One Dark Summer. This thing is huge! You can get 52 songs absolutely free! You don’t even need to give a email address.

In the 52 songs, there are tracks by MxPx, Project 86, Cool Hand Luke, Esterlyn, I Am Terrified, Stavesacre, The Glorious Unseen, Means, The Echoing Green, and many talented independent artists. The full artist listing is on the page.

I haven’t had a opportunity to hear the songs on this sampler yet, thanks to my internet connection, but I’m drooling over it right now. I know for sure that a couple of songs are rare finds – I haven’t seen the MxPx one anywhere else, and both the Project 86 and Stavesacre were iTunes Exclusives. Which is just one more reason to get this awesome sampler.

I also heard a that the other free downloads on Indie Vision Music could be disappearing soon. It could be a rumor, but if you haven’t yet, make sure you download all of the goodies before tomorrow. Christmas Series: Day 9 – LA Symphony, The Echoing Green, Braille, and Watashi Wa

I hope everyone has got their Christmas shopping done. Five days till Christmas! If you panicked when you heard that, never fear. Saturday is the latest you can buy something online and have it get to your place by Christmas. I have seven songs for y’all today, to enjoy while you’re scouring Amazon and eBay. The first is from a little-know band called Watashi Wa. They have two songs available for download on their Purevolume page. One of the songs (“Wonderful”) is a original Christmas song, while the other (“With Love From Me To You”) is just a normal song. They are both pretty good tracks. (By the way, that’s a creative picture, isn’t it?)

Now to switch styles to hip-hop. I have two the LA Symphony Christmas songs and one Braille. You can download the LA Symphony’s “It’s Christmas” and Braille’s “The IV Edition” at the Sphere of Hip-Hop official Myspace page. . After you’ve got those, from you can switch over to the Sphere of Hip-Hop XM Radio Show Myspace and download LA Symphony’s “Christmas Song”. Note: you do need to be signed-in to download the songs.

Time for another style-switch, this time to electronica, courtesy of the Echoing Green. They have two free songs on the Myspace page, “Little Drummer Boy” and “Blind”. I love their rendition of “Little Drummer Boy”. It’s as good or better then the tradition Jars of Clay version (which, incidentally, you can also get free. See here for details.) You really need to check them out.
