The Myriad
Relevant Update
Did anyone else notice when Relevant Magazine took their free song page down a while back? I was pretty disappointed when I noticed that their epic list of free, legal, live, acoustic, song downloads was missing. Thankfully…
Relevant Magazine recently updated their website, and have put the same great list of downloads up, just on another URL. Same songs, different web page. If you haven’t download these yet, and live, acoustic performances by artists like Jars of Clay, Tenth Avenue North, Sara Groves, Pigeon John, and No More Kings sounds good to you, you don’t want to miss this. You can either link up here, or check out my old post for more information in my post about it.

MASSIVE Amount of Free Live, Acoustic Mp3s
Free music today courtesy of Relevant Magazine, and specifically, their podcast. They have approximately 60 (give or take) free songs, all of which were recorded live in their studios. The majority are acoustic, but there are a few “normal” songs, specifically by Pigeon John and The Procussions. I wasn’t sure what a live, semi-acoustic rap would sound like, but it’s really pretty good. As expected, artists like Sara Groves, Phil Wickham, Derek Webb, and Andrew Peterson sound as good unplugged as plugged in.
There are also quite a few new, indie artists on the site as well. A couple to watch out for are Band Marino and No More Kings. And if indie isn’t exactly your favorite thing in the world, there’s plenty of staples like Jars of Clay, Leeland, Dizmas, NEEDTOBREATHE, and David Crowder*Band. Just about something for everyone. Enjoy!
Edit: Relevant has moved their list of free songs to a new page on their site, get the details on that here.
Free Music From The Myriad

After winning a incredible under-dog victory in the MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout, The Myriad’s new CD, With Arrows With Poise is in stores and online today. Since that’s kind of a big deal, I’m going to spotlight them, even though I only have three songs.
The story of The Myriad is one full of danger, excitement, and a rise to fame. Beginning with You Can’t Trust A Ladder, the band’s critically acclaimed but sadly unheralded debut on Floodgate Records. They released two free songs from this CD project, “Stretched Over” and ”Perfect Obligation”, which were available on Purevolume and the Floodgate website, respectively.
Fast forward a few years. The Myriad is in the running for the MTV2 Dew Circuit Breakout. Against all odds, they win, receiving a record deal with Koch Records, and music video play on MTV, MTV2, and MTV Hits.
The Myriad releases A Prelude To Arrows, an EP featuring songs from With Arrows, With Poise. The song “‘Don’t Let Them See You!’” is released in the Downtown Rivals Sampler.
Fast forward again, to right now. The Myriad’s new music video, “A Clean Shot”, is getting heavy playback on all three channels. Their new project, With Arrows, With Poise, is debuting. And to promote the new CD, The Myriad released the song “A Clean Shot” as a free download to MTV’s Discover and Download as well as Download.com.
So listen to the free songs. Enjoy the music. Buy the new CD. Find your part in the legend of The Myriad…
Free Song Downloads from Floodgate
Floodgate Records has some of the best under-the-radar artists in Christian music today. Artists like Number One Gun and The Myriad both began on Floodgate, before moving on to fame. They also have some of the best alternative rock bands.
If you were to surf over to the Floodgate Records Media page right now, you’d find 8 free mp3′s, representing the best Floodgate has to offer, including:
- Forever Changed – “Need To Feel Alive” and “Encounter”
- The Myriad – “Perfect Obligation”
- Yellow Second – “Chance of Sunbreaks”
- Mourning September – “Closer to Closure”
- Cool Hand Luke – “The Foster”
- East West – “Vacant”
- The Insyderz – “Soundtrack to a Revolution”
- Dennison Marrs – “Dancing Over Me” (Unfortunately, the mp3 is corrupted)
I was surprised when I first found this. I wasn’t expecting to hear ska (The Insyderz) or heavy metal (East West). Once I got over the shock, I realized that it was actually pretty good stuff.
The Downtown Rivals – The Wedding, The Myriad, Between the Tree and more!
Alright. I am going to name six (6) different bands. You tell me what they all have in common:
The Wedding. Between the Trees. The Myriad. Deas Veil. Forever Changed. Saints Never Surrender.
Stumped?
The answer is that they are all distributed by Downtown Rivals, and all have songs featured in the Downtown Rivals Digital Music Sampler 2007. It’s actually one of my favorite samplers for the year, just because songs are just so cool. Another nice feature is that you don’t need to download the entire sampler at once. You can download as many songs at a time as you want, whenever you want. Below, I’ll break down the good tracks down:
The Way She Feels – Between the Trees
Don’t Let Them See You! – The Myriad
Rewind – Deas Veil
Starting to Sink – Forever Changed
Barricades – Saints Never Surrender
