Free Download from This Beautiful Republic
Free music today from This Beautiful Republic, namely, “Surrender Saved My Life” from the group’s sophomore album Perceptions. It’s a great song, one of those songs that consistently amazes me lyrically. And, it’s available for download from the band’s Purevolume profile. Enjoy!

Free Song from This Beautiful Republic (Only A 1000!)

I’ve got some fresh free music for you on this fine Monday, courtesy of This Beautiful Republic & Sweet Leaf Tea. Evidently, besides making tea, Sweet Leaf Tea also has a great taste in music, since they’re sponsoring 1000 free downloads of This Beautiful Republic’s hit song “Surrender Saved My Life” through the band’s website.
Like I mentioned, there’s only a thousand copies of the song available, and by the counter on the website, it’s been downloaded 155 times already (at time of posting, that is). I wouldn’t wait around on this one – grab a copy quick! Trust me, it rocks.

The Capital Lights of This Beautiful Republic
Okay, please forgive the not-so-clever-pun in the title. Not of This World (NOTW, for short) has got two free tracks on their website for the month, “Outrage”, the clever & catchy second single from Capital Lights, and “Going Under”, the rocker from This Beautiful Republic’s debut Even Heroes Need Parachutes. Both are quite good, and worthy additions to any Christian rock fan’s playlist. Enjoy!
25 Years (And The Music Don’t Stop)
Free music today from one of the biggest websites in free Christian music, HearItFirst. It turns out that EMI CMG / Sparrow Records (who used to own HearItFirst) had a 25th birthday recently, and to celebrate, they gave away 25 five free downloads, covering what appears to be a full 25 years of music. They’ve got some old classics, and some fairly recent ones too. The full list:
Scott Wesley Brown – “Consider The Lilies”
Amy Grant – “Sing Your Praise To The Lord”
Jump5 -”Friends”
Avalon – “For Freedom”
BeBe and CeCe Winans – “Change Your Nature”
Bethany Dillon – “Waking Up”
Lost Ocean – “Just Glide”
Margaret Becker – “Say The Name”
Newsboys – “You Are My King (Amazing Love)”
Charlie Hall – “Marvelous Light”
Oceans Above – “Beautiful One”
DC Talk – “The Hardway”
Petra – “This Means War”
DeGarmo and Key – “Casual Christian”
Rebecca St. James – “God Help Me”
Sanctus Real – “The Face of Love”
Shawn McDonald – “Captivated”
Stacie Orrico – “Strong Enough”
Delirious? – “Majesty”
Steven Curtis Chapman – “Signs of Life”
Edison Glass – “Let Go”
This Beautiful Republic – “Casting Off”
Future of Forestry – “Open Wide”
Geoff Moore and The Distance – “Homerun”
Audio Adrenaline – “Big House”
As you can see, I wasn’t kidding about a the time line. Amy Grant and Scott Wesley’s songs were both released before my time, and then Shawn MacDonold’s “Captivated” came out just this year. Anyway, regardless of your age, you’ll probably find something you can enjoy. I know James really likes Edison Glass, and I’m glad to see Audio Adrenaline’s “Big House” on the list. That’s just a classic.
To access the downloads, you’ll need to be a HearItFirst member and be signed in. Then you can pick & download the mp3s you want. Happy listening! (Oh, and happy birthday HearItFirst!)
3 Weekly Downloads, Plus J.S. Album Drops
This week, I thought I would save sometime and just write up all three weekly downloads at the same time, thus giving myself more freedom later in the week. The result:
- Weekly Download #1: 20 The Countdown Magazine has added a brand new song by the band Fee! It’s called “All Creation Sings (Joy to The World)”, and looks decidedly Christmas-y. For the download, look in the left sidebar. The download is the top banner.
- Weekly Download #2: Gospel Music Channel has got a free download this week from Attaboy, a group I’ve never heard before. In my opinion, they sounds a lot like Rush of Fools. Grab their song “Califoria”, below.
- Weekly Download #3: iTicket’s has added not one, not two, but THREE free songs to their website for the week. They’re got songs by This Beautiful Republic, Parachute Band, and Jim Brickman. Enjoy!
Speedlinking: Brave Saint Saturn, Lincon Brewster, Addison Road
Speedlinking once again (Friday, because James found a sweet sampler he couldn’t wait to post about.
) Anyway, speedlinking is something I started last week, basically, to save myself time and to diversify somewhat. You can see last week’s introduction here. That said, let’s get started:
1. Brave Saint Saturn has given Indie Vision Music permission to give their song “Starling” away as a free download. Brave Saint Saturn is the electronic side project of several members of Five Iron Frenzy.
2. I was emailed about this 100 Places to Find Free Christian Music Online list this week, and would have had to share it even if TFCMB wasn’t number 21 on the list. It’s extremely complete, and worth perusing.
3. Indie Vision Music has also got two brand new downloads from Gasoline Heart and Discover America. Looks good!
4. Indie Vision Music also has got a full CD download from Amohalko. It’s a full CD called Spark, and looks sweet. Three downloads in one post – yes, Indie Vision Music is amazing.
5. This week’s video is Joy Electric – “What Electricity Made”. See it here.
6. iTicket’s has a free download this week of Lincoln Brewster‘s new song “Today Is the Day”.
7. Total Axxess has a free download of Addison Road’s “Sticking With You”. It looks like it’s only going to be available for a limited time, so grab a copy fast.
7. And last but definitely not least, this week’s archived download is actually a sampler from HearItFirst.com. Check the original post for details.

As many of you will hopefully remember, I’ve been running a series of contests here at The Free Christian Music Blog. I’m in the process of giving away 4 copies of This Beautiful Republic’s new CD Perceptions, which I won from Vanessa at Wired for Sound. I’ve already given 1 away already, in a logo design contest resulting in a amazing logo for the site.
The next contest, a drawing, concluded on Wednesday September 10. After using Research Randomizer to generate a number (41), I’m happy to announce that the winner is… Brian! Congratulations! If you’re name happens to be Brian, and you are signed up to receive email updates from TFCMB, then you need to check your email right now.
Thanks to everyone for signing up!
Winner for Logo Design Contest Announced
What you see above is the brand new logo for The Free Christian Music Blog. It was made by Sean, who will be getting a brand new copy of This Beautiful Republic’s Perceptions. I have to say, that CD is awesome. The only thing I could find wrong with it is that the cover art is a little pixally.
All of the songs are great, and I seem to find a new favorite song every time I listen.
Anyway, I want to thank Sean and everyone else who entered my little contest. You all did a great job, and deserve a hearty congradulations. I’m honored to be the recipient of such quality pieces of art. I’ll be adding the new logo to the site sometime soon, and, if you want to win your own copy of TBR’s new CD, you should see the next contest I’m running…
This Beautiful Republic Perceptions CD Giveaway
Before I announce the next highly anticipated contest, I’d like to give you a quick update on the logo design contest. The contest is currently closed, and I’m in the process of going through and carefully considering the 8-10 entries. I still need to email them to James, but I hope to announce the winner sometime next week. I know everyone is anxious, but I do appreciate your patience.
And now, the next TBR CD giveaway, one that everyone can enter. Entering couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is sign up for email updates before Wednesday, September 10 2008. On the eleventh, I will use a random number generator to pick the winner from everyone subscribed. Simple as that. The lucky winner will recieve a copy of This Beautiful Republic’s new CD, Perceptions.
Since it’s so easy to enter, you really don’t have an excuse not too. Just go to the The Free Christian Music Blog homepage, look in the upper right-hand corner, and type in your email address to sign up. I’ll get you in the contest right away.
